I had an amazing time at the hostel and ended up extending my stay by a week! The hostel staff and our manager Burak were kind, genuine and very welcoming. I stayed in a room with one other volunteer and spent a lot of time in the shared spaces, connecting with the many volunteers and guests coming through the hostel. The housekeeping and cafe work was relaxed and I had a lot of time in the week to explore Istanbul (the ferry to the euro side is so close!) and attend the many social events in the hostel. I feel very lucky that I came to this special place and will definitely keep in touch! 🫶

LOVED the hostel so much!! I felt like I was apart of the team right away, super welcoming, productive and fun environment! They told you the tasks and trusted that you will do them without hovering over you! It created such a great environment! people asked me how many years I'd been working there and after I told them that I and many people were fairly new, they were shocked. It says a lot about the owners and manager, Burak! thanks so much for promptly responding to any feedback, being a kind and fun leader! I would definitely recommend volunteering here and will totally come back!

The hostel is simply amazing! Burak, Ilker, and the entire staff create a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel at home from day one. They're always there to help, ensuring both volunteers and guests have an unforgettable time in Istanbul. With daily activities, neighborhood tours, and incredible Turkish food, every day is an adventure! The artistic decor adds to the charm, the coffee is fantastic, and Soda, the sweetest dog, is part of the family. I met incredible people here and can't wait to come back. Thank you for everything!

It was definitely my best volunteering experience, I met a lot of travelers, I made good friends, I think I will definitely go back at the first opportunity, the working hours and job description are very transparent and easy, I had enough free time to explore Istanbul, we had fun with friends here, we had a good time. thank you the hostel team Onur thank you very much for your help

I had an amazing time at the hostel. Burak was a caring, comprehensive and professional manger. Tasks were easy and done by the book when it came to hours and pre-agreed benefits. It was a very social and warm atmosphere amongst the other volunteers, the hostel seems to attract the kindest people! My room wasn't the best, it got very hot and I found it hard to sleep sometimes as there was no aircon, that's just me though. I also had a few problems with one of the employees. It was handled professionally however other volunteers should be aware as it made me feel very unwelcome. Thank you for having me🥰

What other travelers need to know about this experience is how I felt. In the end, I did not feel appreciated by a long time guest who made inappropriate remarks about how I served his coffee, after unreasonably feeling entitled to be worshipped, without evidence, meaning there are some generational and gender concerns that I would like to emphasize need to be improved in this work environment, especially since mostly women take on serving and cleaning jobs. The only reason I am writing this is to give the current manager Burak a 10 out of 10 for guiding me through my experience.

We were happy to host Lura during her stay here. She was one of our long-term volunteers, staying with us for around six months. It’s unfortunate that she chose to highlight only one specific incident, which might be a bit misleading. The situation with the guest arose because he was unhappy with his coffee, and there was a misunderstanding that led her to quit mid-shift. We believe Lura could benefit from improving her communication skills and gaining more experience in customer service.

An absolutely incredible experience - my best stay in istanbul! amazing people, a fantastic neighborhood, and wonderful staff. i could stay there forever! as a social media manager, i captured everything and shared it on my socials in collaboration with the hostel!

The hostel was great to volunteer at. The task aren't hard and you have a lot of time to do your own thing. The staff is really friendly and there are always other volunteers and guests to hang out with.

I had such a great time in the hostel! The working hours are respected and the volunteers alongside with the staff are so nice and friendly that instead of staying one month I stayed for two. The location is awesome, in the best neighborhood of Istanbul on the Asian side. And they have a cute dog called Soda (I miss Soda). I really recommend this experience :)
