Overall a nice experience. I joined the monk for poya about 45 minutes every evening and joined him on a birthday of another monk which was quite interesting. Otherwise there is not really anything to do in the near surroundings, and it's too far from the Yala national park to do it in a day (the place is in Lunugamwehera) if you're on a budget and want to go there by bus. The accommodation is really nice, for the price I expected richer food though.

Welcomed as one of the family. You'll spend time with Bhante Biya, his brother and great singer Nama,l and thier elderly father. Spend time with local children in and out of the temple, a fantastic way to engage with locals. With opportunities to speak during thier Sunday school. A nature lovers delight. You'll be able to spend dawn or dust admiring the flocks of birds in a peaceful place. Bhante can also help with meditation sessions and show you traditional puja. A great base to stay if you intend to da safari at Yala, all of which can be arranged for you. We miss you already 👋👋

If you're looking to immerse yourself in local culture, and the surrounding area for a couple of days - this is a great temple to come to. (Especially if you plan to do Yala national park) As it's rural there's not too much going on - so you have a lot of down time. And there's also many activities you can engage in, like playing with the kids. Or chatting to the locals. - come with an open mind, and make it what you want! Bhante beyi is extremely hospitable, with great food, a kind heart and a very comfortable bedroom (with ac) !! Thank you for welcoming us into your home.
