Volunteering with Friends the community was the highlight of our trip! Koh Rong is stunning—easy to explore by scooter and full of breathtaking beaches. Accommodations are basic, like the local lifestyle, and keeping the place clean helps make it feel like home. The kids are the sweetest part of it all! The locals are also incredibly welcoming—learn a few Khmer words, and you'll be met with big smiles. Huge thanks to Johney for his kindness. Highly recommend this experience!

My stay at the community was amazing! My tasks were to photograph the village and local life and I also joined in with teaching the children English. Preaek svay village is so cozy and the locals are so so nice, especially the children who always say hello when you walk past them. I met some amazing travellers there that I also made great friends with. The host is very kind and helpful. It was a very peaceful and fulfilling experience and I was very sad to leave. I hope to one day return to this village.

Small fishing village, meeting locals, living in a simple water bungalow, sand, palms, free fishing and snorkeling tours, free kayak and scooter. Plenty of time to explore the island or enjoy the beaches. Overall, there are far more benefits than are listed. The only thing - at the time I had to teach only 1-2 children

This experience was amazing for me; it's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks to Johney, I was able to continue what I've been doing in France for 8 years with kids. I'm not a teacher, or a native English speaker, but at the end of the day, the most important thing for me is the opportunity to spend time with kids and give them love and joy. Since they can't travel, being with them is a way to make them feel like they're traveling and expose them to a little bit of English.

I really wish the was better communication. I arrived at the project and the host wasn't even there which was not communicated with me.

Had a lovely stay at the homestay. Johney was very accommodating — he generously gave me lifts around the island, gave good recommendations for beaches and invited me to join him for a meal with our neighbours. The accommodation is quite basic, there was no shower but a bucket instead, no AC but a fan etc. Honestly though I got used to this very quickly and it was nice to see daily life as a local — just saying as it's better to be aware in advance of coming. Maybe because it was low season but there wasn't much volunteer work — Johney encouraged me to enjoy island life instead. Thanks!

What a magical little village! Very authentic and relaxing experience in Koh Rong. Far away from the busy tourist spots but still well served with some nice restaurants around. I have volunteered with the kids and that definitely makes it more special. Tks Johneyyy 🩵
