The experience
Welcome to La Stalla! Located in the charming village of Borgia, in the province of Catanzaro, Calabria, our agriturismo is a space where Italian tradition meets Argentinian warmth. Founded by Maximiliano, an Argentinian who found his home in Italy, and his passionate Calabrian wife Elysa, we offer a unique experience that combines great food, nature, and community work.
What you offer
25 hours of help per week
Cleaning:
Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.
Kitchen Hand:
Help prepare, finish and serve meals.
Farming:
Plant crops, sow seeds and help in outside tasks.
What you get
2 days off per week
Private Room:
You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.
Shared Dorm:
You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.
Breakfast:
You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.
Dinner:
You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.
Free Laundry:
You can use our laundry room freely.
Use our equipped kitchen:
Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Program Details
We are looking for volunteers to collaborate in our kitchen, keep the space clean and organized, and assist with table service. The available positions are:
-Kitchen Assistant: Prepare ingredients: chop, peel, and measure according to instructions. Keep the work area clean and organized. Wash utensils and kitchen equipment. Assist with cooking side dishes, sauces, or soups under supervision. Use tools such as knives, mixers, and blenders.
-Kitchen Helpe: Wash utensils, plates, and kitchen equipment. Clean and disinfect work surfaces. Peel, chop, and clean basic ingredients. Organize and replenish supplies at workstations. Dispose of waste properly and maintain order in the kitchen.
-Dishwasher: Wash plates, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils. Keep the washing area clean and organized. Organize utensils and plates once dry. Assist with minor tasks in the kitchen if needed.
-Dishwasher Helper: Dry and organize dishes and utensils. Maintain the washing area in optimal condition. Handle waste and clean nearby areas. Assist with general kitchen cleaning.
-Waiter (Runner): Carry plates and drinks to the table. Clear used plates and cutlery. Serve bread and drinks as needed. No communication with customers is required, just support in service.

Activities & Shift
Volunteer Schedule
The work is organized into shifts and varies depending on the day:
Wednesday to Saturday:
Shift 1: 4:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Shift 2: 8:00 PM - 1:00 AM
Sunday:
Shift 1: 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Shift 2: 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Monday: Day off (the restaurant is closed).
Tuesday: Usually a day off, as it's a quiet day.
Volunteers can help with cleaning, assisting in the kitchen, and dishwashing. Shifts are assigned based on needs and availability.
Rules
-Comunication-
If you don’t speak Spanish or English but do speak Italian, you are also welcome at La Stalla. This way, you will be able to communicate effectively and enjoy a wonderful experience.
-Important-
We do not provide any type of visa or immigration letter. The visa is entirely the volunteer's responsibility.
-Transport-
To come to Borgia, you can come by plane to Lamezia Terme and from there take a train to Catanzaro Lido, then you can take a bus to borgia.
-Climate-
June/Agost (HOT) :Pants and short shirt
September/November ( Tempered) : Pants and short t-shirt for the day, long pants, sweatshirt or jacket for cool days
December/April (Cold) :Long pants, sweatshirt or jacket for cool days
The town of Borgia has no water supply from 12 a.m. to 6 a.m.
Generally, even if it is cold, during the day the sun is present, at night it gets cooler.
