The experience

Huelal-Totga is a newly established project for the protection of the rainforest in Costa Rica, located between the Manzanillo-Gandoca nature reserve and the Bribri-Keköldi reserve. Our goal is to preserve biodiversity and promote sustainable solutions for rainforest conservation.


What you offer

23 hours of help per week

Content Writer: Write, edit and publish inspiring content.

Web Developer: Help develop and maintain websites.


What you get

3 days off per week

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Free Tours: We’ll take you on tours and rides around town. For free!

Language lessons: Take free language classes at our place.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Basic Internet Access: Basic speed internet for you to work remotely

Dedicated Workspace: Specific space for you to work remotely


Requirements

Intermediate English or Intermediate Spanish

Between 18 and 45 years old

Only hosts solo volunteers (doesn’t accept couples or partners)

Program Details

As a volunteer, you will work in rainforest conservation education. Tasks include manning information booths, distributing flyers in Puerto Viejo, assisting with finca and jungle tours, and working on online campaigns. You will be accommodated at the nearby self-catering farm Yuyo.


Activities & Shift

Your help hours are from Thursday to Sunday, 5 hours and 45 minutes per day, with a total of 23 hours per week. The tasks are varied and range from information booths and flyer distribution to the development of tours and support for online campaigns for the protection of the rainforest.

Huelal-Totga and Yuyo are vegan and drug-free projects. We value respectful coexistence and conscious interaction with the environment. We expect our volunteers to be committed to environmental protection, to be able to work in a team and to be willing to live in a tropical, communal environment.
