Hello! My name is Audrey, I own and operate this ranch, in Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan. I have many guests both in winter and summer and we offer wagon, sleigh, and trail rides with the horses. It's a great place if you enjoy meeting new people and if you love animals! You would work in exchange for meals, housing, many other amenities and a variety of learning opportunities. There is a lake within 15 minutes for fishing and hiking, and the local area for hunting. You may horse back ride, play with our lovable dogs, enjoy the outdoor hot tub and indoor sauna, and also have a chance to see the northern lights. In the evenings we play plenty of cards and board games which always makes for a good laugh, with also plenty of free time to chill out for some quiet rest and relaxation.
I will do my best for you to have fun here.
Activities & Shift
The average work day is 5 to 6 hours, 6 days a week. You would stay in a cabin with private rooms built for volunteers, and we try to have at least four helpers at all times. The chores include taking care of the animals which is priority, property maintenance and for this specific position there will be a focus on: fence fixing, wood working, maintenance of our tractors, quads, truck and cars. Regarding horse training we currently have a pair of four years old and two five years old to work with if you are experienced. A typical work day is meeting at 8AM for breakfast, going through our daily chores list, and tackling the day's work. We meet again at 12 for lunch, after which we clean up and break until 4PM, when we prepare for dinner and finish any odd jobs until 5-6PM. The evenings are free time.
Rules
You will have access to hot tubs, cars and quads but with permission
