The experience

You will support the daycare staff in organizing recreational and educational activities, creating a safe and pleasant environment, and assist with feeding and cleanup of the space.

Our daycare serves children from 3 months to 3 years of age.

What you offer

25 hours of help per week

Social Work: Help with volunteer work in local projects and communities.

Child Care: Caring for, playing with, and spending time with children.

Additional fee required

Amount: US$ 160 Per week

Fee pays for: Donation to project

Description: All accommodation fees are a direct, 100% donation to Centro Infantil de los Ángeles (CILA). Each donation will be used for the benefit of our children at the center: for food, teacher salaries, classroom supplies, maintenance, etc. We make every donation count and really appreciate the volunteers’ support in these efforts. Your donation also covers 2 meals a day Monday - Friday, hot showers, fast internet and housekeeping.

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Program Details

Centro Infantil de los Ángeles (CILA) is a nonprofit organization that provides high quality daycare and preschool education to children with the greatest need in beautiful San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Our center affords low-income working parents the confidence and security of knowing their children are fed, cared for, and supported on their path to a brighter future.

Activities & Shift

You will provide support and care to children from 3 months to 3 years old, who come from families with economic difficulties. We currently have 3 age groups you can choose to work with: Babies, younger toddlers and older toddlers.

The main tasks include helping to feed the children, changing diapers, playing with them to stimulate their cognitive and motor development, and providing affection and attention.

Volunteers are expected to work at the Preschool Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 11:30 am and 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm. You will take your lunch break while the children are napping. Volunteers are free weekdays in the afternoons, on weekends, and Mexican holidays.

Rules

It is very important for volunteers who are considering this experience to have the love, creativity, energy, and willingness to work with babies and toddlers. We also strongly recommend that volunteers have studied or demonstrate an interest in studying Spanish prior to and during their time with us. That way, volunteers can be the most useful in the classroom and have the most rewarding experience possible.
