The experience

Hidden in the Sicilian mountains near Palermo, our eco-refuge is a peaceful place to reconnect with nature. Surrounded by olive trees, fruit trees, and streams, we live by permaculture principles, care for our donkeys and bees, and share simple vegetarian meals. Our dream is to create a place that inspires and connects: a space to slow down, recharge, and take action with greater positive impact on the Planet.

What you offer

24 hours of help per week

Cleaning: Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.

Gardening: Help grow plants and cultivate gardens

Building & Repairing: Help with a wide range of repairs or building.

Farming: Plant crops, sow seeds and help in outside tasks.

What you get

1 day off per week

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Basic Internet Access: Basic speed internet for you to work remotely

Requirements

Beginner Italian or Beginner English

Between 18 and 50 years old

Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers

Program Details

The Center aims to create an eco-compatible lifestyle model, based on a simple way of life, away from excessive consumption. Here are some aspects of this lifestyle that are already in practice:

*Vegetarian diet, when possible, local and organic;
*Minimal waste production;
*Biomass heating system: using pellets or wood derived from pruning or cutting branches and trees on the Center’s land as fuel;
*Ecological detergents: for cleaning the premises, primarily biodegradable products bought in bulk are used.

Accommodation in a double/king-size room with an en-suite bathroom and we cook together.

Activities & Shift

The activities we involve volunteers in are:

*Olive grove management (harvesting, pruning, fire prevention)
*Care of the two donkeys (fencing, stable maintenance)
*Garden maintenance
*Firewood preparation for winter
*Structure maintenance

Rules

I don't speak English very well; it's better if the volunteer can communicate in Italian.
