Program Details
The main activitie is yard clearing and maintenance, this helps keep fire and insect hazards low and we greatly appreciate help in this. We have trails to maintain, a lodge to keep clean and groups of visitors coming and going. But often we have no visitors and this place is very peaceful and quite, the nearest neighbors are 55km away. There will be times we ask you keep the place for a few days while we travel , this is great time to spend alone and get to know yourself. During this time you will maintain cabins, care for dogs and other small building projects. If you are passionate about bushcraft, survival, and living on the land, this is the perfect place to fish , bow hunt and build shelters. This position is very independent, we have lots of projects on the go and will guide you in the first week. Self-motivated and competent individuals will thrive here. The Tasks vary depending on the season, from spring, summer, fall and winter specific activities.
Activities & Shift
Day to day life varies here depending on season:
Wake up is around 7.30 am and we all prepare our own simple breakfast and coffee.
Tasks are discussed in the morning and drawn out on a whiteboard in the common room. Working is in between 8.30 to 5 pm with a lunch break. We prepare dinner together and clean together as well. Evenings are free time but also if there is a project like unloading supplies we all help out. This is our family home and we aim to make you part of the family, you can help yourself to food whenever, and take breaks when needed, we love to visit over a cup of tea, but also like to work together as needed. You will have a nice warm cabin and be safe and comfortable during your stay.
Rules
No smoking, no unlimited internet use, and be helpful as possible. Life in the woods can be hard, for example washing clothes you have to haul water, boil water, wash by hand, and hang dry, and this counts as a personal chore not an eco-project. No use of motovehicles, chainsaws or guns without supervision. Keep safety in mind at all times as hospital is 3 hours away. Dont watch while others work, help out while you can.
