After over 160 helpers we found what works for us- so we start in the morning until lunch, but many helpers choose to finish jobs. We make long days ourselves, but like to have a drink before dinner, and eat together.
Weekends we try to do something fun together, but they are free. Bus is reasonably close and we are happy to drop off when home .
Housing is in a caravan with outdoor shower and toilet. We are both handy people, (Arthur is an engineer/ can do just about everything, Aukje is a sculptor/ art teacher), and we have many projects on the go- from building things to weeding and feeding ... Our dogs have their own ideas on what helper should do....
Activities & Shift
We find that breakfast around 7.30, work around 8, Latte's and biscuits around 11, and lunch around 1 works well. dinner is anywhere from 7-8 pm, since we both work long days, but we both like to cook good meals. Food is life :-)
What we do varies so much depending on what comes up at the time, that it's sometimes hard to predict.
Tool experience/ insight is much appreciated, but we also have plain weeding.
We have animals- so liking dogs, chickens and horses is essential :-)
Deep water on site, close to the house, so we are uncomfortable with small children around.
Although we find what works, we have understanding of personal variation and needs. Discuss when contacting us please. ( After over 160 helpers, we have seen a lot !)
Rules
Please don't use AI to write for you. I can get a feel for you if you do.
Don’t apply longer than 1 day to 2 weeks ahead. Jobs change quick here.
We eat meat- can adjust up to a certain level for vegetarians, but find that vegan cooking poses a problem for us; no vegans.
smoking is ok- only outside, and we don't want to find any evidence of it anywhere!
Neurodivergence is fine- but you have to be fairly social.
LGBTI+ obviously ok.
We are ok with teaching to improve language, but an ok base understanding is necessary to do work. Basic to good tool skills essential.
We apparently give good life advice :-)
Everyone starts with simple jobs, to assess abilities- if you have skills, there is so much possible here !
When you apply, and get accepted- we are counting on you, and will have said no to others. Canceling 'last minute' is extremely disruptive to us.
