Volunteer at a Small Animal Sanctuary in Brazil

The experience

We are a small Animal Sanctuary in southern Brazil, currently home to 2 bulls, lots of fishes, bees, 14 (mostly senior) dogs, and the local fauna. As a volunteer, you'll help care for all of the Sanctuary's residents, keeping all the areas tidy and comfortable for the bulls and the dogs. You’ll also spend quality time with them (our senior dogs will especially appreciate your company!) - assist with gardening and fruit picking.

Program Details

Welcome to Brum's Animal Sanctuary! Our residents came from conditions of abuse and neglect and were rescued by me in the course of many years. I take care of the Sanctuary on my own and have only 1 part-time employee on week days and a cleaning lady once a week.
Each resident, being them a dog, a bull, a wild bird or bee that flies by, has a unique personality and specific needs that must be noted and respected. The Sanctuary has a pond and a small agroforest where I grow bananas, veggies, papaya, etc. Volunteers should participate in gardening activities and might learn or teach me something in the process. Although very beautiful and carefully tented to, the Sanctuary is next to the city and not an idyllic place in the mountains or in the middle of a forest as I'd love it to be.
But I'm more than happy to go with you on small tours to explore better surroundings.
