Help at our homestead in the rolling hills of Østfold, Norway
The experience
We need help with the daily care of the animals, and make sure that their life is of the best quality we can provide.
Also deal with the upkeep of the garden, chop wood and help finishing the renovations of the house, and join in on the daily projects we have going on concerning our homestead.
We're looking for an open minded, self going, positive and handy person, which has no trouble getting their hands dirty.
What you offer
25 hours of help per week
Animal Care:
Help look after and take care of animals.
Building & Repairing:
Help with a wide range of repairs or building.
Farming:
Plant crops, sow seeds and help in outside tasks.
Gardening:
Help grow plants and cultivate gardens
What you get
2 days off per week
Private Room:
You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.
Breakfast:
You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.
Lunch:
You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.
Dinner:
You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.
Free Laundry:
You can use our laundry room freely.
Bikes at your disposal:
You can use our bikes any time you want.
Pick Up:
We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.
Language lessons:
Take free language classes at our place.
Certificate:
Get a certificate of completion after you finish your experience.
Basic Internet Access:
Basic speed internet for you to work remotely
Requirements
Intermediate English or Intermediate Norwegian
Over 20 years old
Only hosts solo volunteers (doesn’t accept couples or partners)
European Union Passport
United States visa or citizenship
Travel insurance

Program Details
You can expect a rustic and simple life in the country, as described in our profile
- we're 10km away from any town or village.
We have boots and a small selection of work wear available for volunteers to borrow. ..And bikes so you can get around.
Some tasks is manual labor, so there is no need to go to the gym! You will help on some tasks alone (which mean you should show initiative, be responsible and hands on) and some tasks together with us. Help is ANY suitable task that needs to be done.
April/May to around September, volunteers will have their own cabin (see photo) across the road to the house (see photo), simple standard. Winter months, bed in small alcove at the stair landing, curtains for privacy.
Shared bathroom and showers, kitchen and livingroom in the house. Shared laundry to be air dried.
We provide 3 in-house meals pr day, at least 1 shared meal.
Activities & Shift
HELPER HOURS
25 hours pr week, 5 days pr week 0900-1430 (this includes 30min lunchbreak),
Days and worktimes are somewhat flexible, to be agreed on.
Shift include morning care of the animals, general maintenance and working on the ongoing project.
Rules
- Agreement with houserules to be signed upon your arrival.
- There is a 48 hour quarantene after entering the country for touching any livestock due to the possible risk of contamination of MRSA.
- We ADVICE you to have travel insurance an a tetanus shot, for your own benefit.
- You need a Norwegian TOURIST VISA or a EU passport.
