Program Details

Orphanhood and widowhood is a very challenging life to lead because most of the times the individuals who find themselves in such situation are always left on their own or given very little support if they get lucky. The condition gets worse if the widows are uneducated/ less educated and unempowered, this makes them unable to distinguish what their rights are and even how to move on as far as providing for themselves and their families is concerned. In Mangano Island wakinga location by extension has widows and orphans whose rights have been thwarted, who live in misery and abject poverty with no one to run to for help. Some of the widows have very large families (averagely between 5 to 10 children) which they are to provide for single handedly right from meals, clothing to schooling.
