Program Details
Our vision is to create a volunteer experience that is sustainable to both the volunteer and the project they are working at. In many international volunteer programs, the work of volunteers does not leave a lasting impact on the community they visited. Other times, participants pay a large fee but do not see where their money goes. This is where we hope to be different.
Volunteers will have the opportunity to have both an incredible volunteer experience AND leave a lasting impact.
We ask volunteers to host a fundraiser in order to further support the needs of the children - with the main focus on building the new center located in Kigamboni. Together, we can decide exactly where and how your money will be spent. These donations will be given directly to the Children's Home and used during your time at the project
Activities & Shift
Think of your time here as a cultural exchange. As if you just gained 60 new friends and are about to spend every day together. We hope you can provide the children with new entertainment and learning experiences they otherwise would not experience. The world is your oyster here. You can help preparing the younger children to begin elementary school, help with homework, teach English, or introduce them one of your skills / hobbies, or any of your favorite games. There is a lot of creative freedom in deciding how you will spend your time here. In exchange, the kids will be excited to teach you Swahili and show you their favorite things to do.
You are flexible to arrive and leave at the hours and days of the week that fit best with your schedule. The busiest hours are afternoons and weekends. We ask volunteers to spend at least 20 hours a week at the project.
