My Experience at the hostel was great. The people there, staff and other volunteers, were super amazing. The work can be challenging sometimes but you get good food and amazing Adventures in return. I hope to get back in summer. The location is also incredible, the sea right outside with beautiful nature. I would recommend!

Magda and the team at the home are considerate, kind and very welcoming. This has been a fantastic volunteering experience while teaching yoga and I would definitely return :)

Unfortunately, I only had a few days at the home as I needed a medicinal cream that cost 76 euros a week, so I returned to Bulgaria where I saved about 400 euros. the home is beautiful with fantastic views. The food was great and I just did gardening work in my short time there but plan to return this summer. One thing though is the village is totally shut down for the winter until tourists return in the spring.

My experience at the hostel will defiantly be one I remember for the rest of my life, I had an amazing time as a volunteer! Work hours were very manageable and I still had plenty of free time to enjoy the activities offered at the hostel or bond with volunteers/guests and travel around with them Transparently the communication could been better and the staff housing needs updates. The weekly work schedules are thorough but more of the day to day or last minute request could have been communicated better and to all. The overall trade is worth it and I 100% recommend this experience!

I had a great time at the hostel! The hours were respected, the job is easy and you'll get much free time. I met many people, connected with locals, and explored Agios Gordis and Corfu town. You get lots of benefits. You're going to share the accommodation with other volunteers. I highly recommend this place!

Overall thoughts: - Corfu island is beautiful! - I made friends for life who I already miss - Decent amenities: food, activities and shuttle bus all free - awful organisation - You have to be sociable or usually are sent to do cleaning/ restaurant - “Party promoting”, includes cleaning up at 4 in the morning, AFTER heaving drinking - Misogyny here is rife. You will be felt up, said sexual comments to, etc, which will be passed off as “the hostel” culture -Almost every female volunteer I met here felt uncomfortable during their stay, as a result of both the guests and volunteer management.

Hello Catherine,

Thank you for sharing your feedback about your stay. We are glad to hear you appreciated the beauty of Corfu Island, enjoyed our amenities, and made lasting friendships.

However, we must address the concerns you raised and provide some context. Our organization is committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment for all volunteers and guests. This commitment includes setting clear expectations regarding behavior and responsibilities.

During your stay, we observed significant issues related to alcohol consumption that impacted not only your experience but also the overall environment. There were multiple instances where your heavy drinking led to problematic situations, including times when you had to be carried home. This behavior is not acceptable, both for your own health and safety and for maintaining a positive and productive environment for all volunteers.

We made several efforts to help you adjust, including assigning tasks that we believed would be more suitable for you. Unfortunately, these efforts were met with continued challenges. It is crucial for volunteers to be responsible and engage positively with the community, and there was a clear mismatch between your behavior and our expectations.

The majority of our volunteers have positive experiences here, as reflected in numerous reviews. They appreciate the well-organized activities, supportive environment, and the sense of community we strive to create. It is essential for all volunteers to adhere to our standards to ensure a beneficial and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

We take your feedback seriously and will continue to work on improving our practices. We hope you can understand the importance of these standards and take this as a learning experience.

Wishing you all the best in your future endeavors.

It was very nice! The place was amazing, the view was absolutely stunning. I had so much fun, either by myself or with other volunteers, there were plenty of things to do so we were never bored. I made a lot of new friends and all the people were very nice. However, the accommodation was not nice, mainly the bathroom, there was only one bathroom for 15 people and it was nasty. Also, there was no AC so it was really hot in our room. The shifts were fine, no hard work. And we had two days off per week, perfect for trips and discovering the island. I enjoyed my time here very much.

Bullet points -loved the people I met and the location. -accommodation was lackluster it took my entire stay for them to fix one of the bathrooms. - communication between staff in charge of volunteers and the owner is not always clear -I tried to give two weeks notice that I wanted to leave early and was told I was childish and irresponsible for doing so -the person in charge of the volunteers will act really nice to you at times but then try and gaslight you if you do anything he doesn't like. -you are encouraged to heavily drink here but will be yelled at if you are too drunk

Hi Hannah,

Thank you for your feedback. I must say I’m surprised by some of your comments, especially since none of these issues were mentioned during our pre-departure meeting. When you decided to leave on a couple of days’ notice because you met someone here, your fellow volunteers stepped up to cover your shifts, ensuring the whole family here could accommodate your sudden change in plans.

Addressing your points, the delay in fixing the bathroom is on us, and we’re working to improve our maintenance response times. Communication can always be better, and we’re making changes to ensure clearer and more effective interactions between staff and management.

Regarding your early departure, it did put us in a challenging position as our operations rely on the commitments of our volunteers. While we understand personal reasons can change plans, the unexpected nature of your departure significantly impacted our scheduling and planning.

As for the drinking culture, we are a party hostel, but we don’t encourage heavy drinking. We aim to create a balanced environment where everyone can enjoy themselves responsibly. Your feedback will help us ensure our policies are communicated more clearly.

It seems the social dynamics and unique environment of a party hostel were challenging for you. While we value the contributions you made, it appears the social skills required for this setting were not an ideal match.

We appreciate everything you brought to our team and understand that sometimes, despite best intentions, the fit isn’t perfect. We wish you the best in your future endeavors and hope you find an opportunity that aligns better with your expectations.

I had a great time when i stayed in march 2024. Although i think the work might be more intense in summer, I really enjoyed my time at the home. Magda assigns tasks on a day to day basis, everything was pretty clear. Team dorm was basic but did the job, corfu is stunningly beautiful especially where the resort is located in agios gordios and there are loads of cool places in the village that are open between April and September so expect it to be sleepy if you're travelling outside of high season.

I had great time in the home but only because of people who I met there. I was working for more hours than I should and doing quite hard gardening job. What is more, days off system was unclear as well, sometimes after hour of work Magda told us that this is our day off because of bad weather. Magda's behavior was also unpredictable. Sometimes she was really nice and sweet but sometimes she was screaming and being quite rude. Communication was on quite low level as well. But on the other side, we could take part in ATV and kayak tours and people that I met there was supportive and caring
