Amazing two weeks! I will never forget my experience here as a volunteer! I just want to thank all the people I met for making my time here even more special. This hostel and these people will always have a place in my heart! Masnita, In addition to all the attention you've given me since the first e-mail I sent you…until my last day, I would like to tell you how much I admire you as a person and as a business leader! I could see and feel all your dedication for the hostel, for the bars, customers and volunteers. You Rock Girl!!!! Much Love and Thank you for everything Giovana 🇧🇷

It was a blast to work with Masnita and the other volunteers. Masnita is very easygoing and always smiling. She literally makes any place brighter by her presence and her laughing. Couldn't have imagined a better first host! Truly thankful for my time with her and the team!

Mas is incredible. She makes everything simple and fun. The staff help you with everything and the schedules are flexible, you have a lot of free time. The work is easy and fun. Thank you very much for everything, I hope to see you again :)

First the job was super easy to do. I was in the reception and yes it was 8hrs long but just 3 days a week so it was perfect. The job was easy. I mostly don't like the area that the hostel is but also it's close to a lot of tourists spots so it has some advantage looking from that view. The hostal is simple and the common area is not that big ! They are under a lot of changes so, also the kitchen it's under construction, so you cannot cook. In the other hand there are a lot restaurants and places to eat around.

This was my first volunteer experience. Overall it was okay. I volunteered at the bar. I was mostly Rimbar most of the time I was there and was at Attic and Polo Lounge once. Derrick and all of the bar staff were chill and nice. The hostel itself needs a lot of work especially with cleanliness. They are making renovations to the hostel which is great. Malik is okay, he needs to be more open to feedback. Would have loved for bonding activities. I had my Nutella stolen and he did help me with that. The people that were there made the experience great. Thanks Michelle, Alexa, Leah, Viqi, and Liz

This was an overall good experience. I did not get to do the job I originally applied for but I did have a lot of fun and meet some amazing new people. The hostel is under construction right now being updated which is amazing. The amount of work done so far is immense but there is still a long way to go before it is finished. If you are looking to apply just know that there will be changes to the place while you are there. The location is nice, right on the edge of china town and near the metro so getting around is easy.

Fun and flexible working experience. Made new friends both with locals and travelers. Malik is very easy going and will make sure everything was taken care for what I was provided. I got to work at attic bar and the team was really fun and friendly. I would recommend it.

I had a great time working at Rimbar! I was a waitress and only worked on Friday, Saturday and Sunday which gave me alot of free time to visit the city in between. The team was nice and friendly overall. I loved meeting the new volunteers and we had alot of fun together.

I signed up to be a social media manager and party promoter and it was a fake. They only wanted me to serve at their bar for which I did a 9h shift with no break and no food. The hostel in itself is horrible and scary. The staff room has no windows and is like a bunker. I've been traveling for around 3 years and was 100% the worst hostel I've ever stayed at.

It was a really fun place to stay and meet other volunteers. You work 20 hours a week, in de evening. I did the social media for the hostel. I had to make sure people would give 5 star reviews and make sure at least 20 people would come to the weekly BBQ. The last part was impossible, since in the hostel, most of the people are locals living there fulltime. So we had to go to other hostels (&got kicked out). I wasnt able to find people these weeks unfortunately. because the volunteers and the travelers knew the food was bad. Overall fun place tho! Lots of stuff to do with volunteers!

Hi Silke! Thank you for the honest review. Receiving hostel reviews and gathering the community for events require sociability and a positive manner. We encourage volunteers to express their skills ( or willingness to learn ) in this position since this person would represent the hostel image. We were dismayed for weeks you did not show any proactiveness and sociability. We set the goal of 20 people for the BBQ since previous volunteers were easily able to achieve this as we are living in a high-density hostel and city. We understand this goal can be a struggle and differ for anyone but it is not a requirement. But no one came for two weeks resulting in food wastage. The hour given was much less and more freedom but you used it for personal activities instead, therefore unfair towards the other volunteers. We apologize things don't work out but it wasn't a great experience through our collaboration and we wish you good luck with your future endeavors.
