The experience

We seek help to renovate a bedroom and bathroom and tidy up the garage (packed with junk). One of you has to drive a vehicle and meet insurance requirements. We also expect your help with household chores including pet-related tasks, just like any other family member. We are very flexible with schedules and accommodate for hikes/trips and could lend you a car. We normally take couples; pets welcome. NOS PUEDES ESCRIBIR EN ESPAÑOL.

What you offer

Painting & Decorating: Help with painting or decorating the property facilities.

Gardening: Help grow plants and cultivate gardens

Building & Repairing: Help with a wide range of repairs or building.

What you get

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Free Tours: We’ll take you on tours and rides around town. For free!

Free Hiking Tours: We’ll take you on excursions and hikes around town. For free!

Bikes at your disposal: You can use our bikes any time you want.

Pick Up: We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.

ENGLISH [ESPAÑOL a continuación]:
1 bedroom; double bed (135cm); couples preferred. Need help with, masonry, electricity, carpentry, plumbing, fixing things & landscaping. We treat you like and expect you to be a household member, socializing, walking the dogs, going on day trips, preparing meals, playing cards/board games, etc. You can explore the reservoir in our canoe and use our bicycles. We are 1 hour’s drive from closest town and closest supermarket is 30 km away across a mountain pass. There are many fascinating places to explore in a 75-km radius, from pre-Roman ruins to medieval castles, as well as iconic wineries. No public transport, so we lend you a car if you meet insurance requirements or take you places ourselves. Our dogs get along with canine visitors. So, as long as your pet is OK with other cats & dogs, we'll be delighted to welcome it.
ESPAÑOL:
1 dormitorio; cama doble (135cm); se prefieren parejas. Necesitamos ayuda con, albañilería, electricidad, carpintería, fontanería, arreglar cosas y jardinería . Les trataremos como miembros del hogar y así esperamos que respondan, socializando, paseando a los perros, en excursiones, preparando comidas, jugando a cartas/juegos de mesa, etc. Pueden explorar el embalse en nuestra canoa y usar nuestras bicicletas. Estamos a 1 hora de la ciudad más cercana y el supermercado más próximo está a 30 km pasando un puerto de montaña. Hay muchos sitios fascinantes que explorar en un radio de 75 km, desde ruinas prerromanas a castillos medievales, así como bodegas emblemáticas. No hay transporte público pero les dejamos un automóvil si cumplen los requisitos del seguro o les llevamos nosotros. Nuestros perros se llevan bien con otros. Si su mascota no tiene problemas con otros perros y gatos, encantados de recibirla.

Activities & Shift

ENGLISH [ESPAÑOL a continuación]:
We expect you to help us in our project up to 25 hours a week but we can agree on the best way to distribute time to accommodate for day trips or hikes. We basically expect you to be part of our family, so, if you are looking for a position in which you put in your hours and then disappear on your own, this is not the right project for you. Of course, if you have to telework while you are here, we will do our best to accommodate to your schedule. We seek proactive helpers, so please don't just sit around waiting for us to dream up tasks for you. If you see something that you feel needs doing, cleaning or fixing and you feel capable, please do let us know and we'll probably be more than happy for you to do it and give you all the assistance/means we can. We will also probably ask you to occasionally house/pet sit for one or more days.
ESPAÑOL:
Esperamos que nos ayuden en nuestro proyecto hasta 25 horas a la semana, pero podemos acordar la mejor forma de distribuir el tiempo para acomodarnos a excursiones o caminatas. Básicamente esperamos que formen parte de nuestra familia durante su estancia, así que, si buscan un puesto en el que trabajan cierto número de horas y luego desaparecen, este no es el proyecto adecuado. Por supuesto, si tienen que teletrabajar, haremos todo lo posible para adaptarnos a su horario. Buscamos huéspedes proactivos, así que no esperes a que nos inventemos tareas para ti. Si ves algo que crees que hay que hacer, limpiar o arreglar y te sientes capaz de hacerlo, háznoslo saber y probablemente estaremos más que encantados de que lo hagas y te daremos toda la ayuda/medios que podamos. También es probable que les pidamos ocasionalmente que nos cuiden la casa y mascotas durante uno o más días.

Rules

ENGLISH [ESPAÑOL a continuación]:
- No smoking in the house
- No eating except in the kitchen/dining room
- A reasonable level of personal hygiene is expected; at least one shower a day.
- You are welcome (and encouraged) to use our laundry facilities as much as you want.
- You are expected to help other members of the household when preparing meals, cleaning the house, washing dishes, pots and pans, mopping floors, vacuuming, tidying up, looking after the pets, etc.
- Phones at the dinner table are frowned upon.
- Ours is a Spanish-speaking household. One of us is fluent in English but, if you are not a Spanish speaker, we expect you to actively seek to learn/improve/practise your Spanish before and during your stay with us. We have a language teaching background and will do our utmost to assist you.
ESPAÑOL:
- No se puede fumar en la casa
- No comer excepto en la cocina/comedor
- Se espera un nivel razonable de higiene personal; al menos una ducha al día.
- Puedes utilizar nuestras instalaciones de lavandería (y te animamos a hacerlo) tanto como quieras.
- Se espera que ayuden a otros miembros de la casa en tareas domésticas, como preparar comidas, limpiar la casa, fregar los platos y cacharros, fregar/trapear el suelo, pasar la aspiradora, recoger, en el cuidado de las mascotas, etc.
- Los teléfonos en la mesa durante las comidas están mal vistos.
