I was at WaketheFUp22 centre for a holistic the Center over a weekend and it was a very wholesome experience for me. the Center focuses on the three aspects of your being, the body, mind and soul and we did multiple activities related to each. I would recommend participating in the Center for everyone who wishes to connect better with themselves and with nature. The centre is situated in the Spanish countryside mountains while still overlooking the sea, making for beautiful sunrises and sunsets. I would also recommend volunteering at the centre to increase your overall social & mental awareness

I loved the whole experience as a volunteer at the Center, being part of build such an enriching space felt so good. Where the Center is located is in the middle of the nature with sunsets and sunrises speechless. The space to sleep is comfortable, clean and has enough space for stuffs. Nizar knows a lot about meditation so was interesting to learn something about, it's so easy to connect with nature and find time for calm and silence. The food was delicious, balanced and healthy. The suggestion for the next volunteers is being open to new experiences, leave at side the noisy life.

The Center is located in a natural park. The environment is really nice in the middle of the mountains with lots of hikes possible starting from the site itself so it is a little isolated from the city. It is advisable to have a car to be able to navigate as you wish. However, Nizar will regularly offer to take you to the beach during the week with his car. The work is quite difficult but Nizar is understanding and does not overload. You will live in a caravan with electricity and you will have access to a fridge, camping kitchen, toilet and shower (not closed).

The centre is in a natural park, you can enjoy the view of the mountains and the sea. The hikes from the centre are very beautiful. The work is tiring but we worked only 4 hours a day in the morning from 9am to 1pm. Nizar left us to work independently and take breaks which was good. He can also take you to the beach but it is interesting to have your own car if you want to visit the area and not stay isolated on the Center. The food was good thanks to Consuelo! This centre will be more suitable for you if you are looking to have an experience to refocus on yourself and not to meet people.

I slept in a nice place and the food was good, so all that we needed was provided. With time we built a good place in general also. the Center is surrounded by beautiful views, and I could take the bus free to the beach during the week. I also learned a lot about myself during my stay, but it wasn't on the way I expected it. I think that there was not a community, and as I understand Nizar is not interested in building one with volunteers, but he is interested in spiritual activities. If that is the kind of world packing experience you want, one where you want alone time, it can be an option.

Was great having Consuelo for more than a month here. She helped quite a lot to set the new center in place. I understand young people's need to connect with others and socialize, but unfortunately given the nature of a meditation center, volunteers need to be slightly independent to fill in the rest of their days (hiking, reading, beach,...) and comfortable with introspection, silence and raw nature... One last more personal advice to Consuelo is to try focusing more on the present moment, as she already had her head in the next trip, rather than seeking joy among raw nature, learning more about meditation, etc.

Nizar has great ideas and good intentions but it isn't structured and he isn't easy to talk to… Work is more oriented on construction and gardening and hours aren't really counted. The beach is pretty and he lifted us there so that was cool. This experience has humbled me for the rest of my trip and I am now comfortable in the silence. A lot of rules: silence after 10pm and before 9am, no smoking, no drinking, being calm. There's room for improvement but I trust Nizar to improve the facilities and organisation for the next travellers. 🧳

Thanks to Tanya and her friend Juliette from coming by and helping me 5/6 days in the center as first volunteers ever! A bit surprised by the low score but grateful for the feedbacks given, which would help us grow wakethefup_school for the better with time.

Just a few additional points to consider for the upcoming volunteers (if any other questions, plz message me)

- This was the first worldpacker (even international) experience for the girls, mostly in a new country and culture, which is hard to sort of distinguish from fun tourism
- The girls were nicely curious about many topics around meditation, culture, food, etc. Made my best efforts to answer during meals, in the car, etc., but seems like they were looking for more socialization and fun vibes (maybe more young volunteers could have helped), not grasping that part of being in a retreat center is to respect some silent times, contemplate in nature, ask deep questions, practice yoga/meditation maybe, etc.
- In a matter of less than a week, they worked around 4 hours per day, were taken to the beach 3 times, invited to restaurant a couple of times, cooked lunch & dinner for them...

Wish them the best for the rest of their life journey!

We spend 5 days instead of 2 weeks at the Center ,at the beginning we didn't have anything, no sheets on bed, no toilet, no shower and I think it was kinda difficult to have 3 meals a day .After 3 days we finally had a shower! I think it's getting better to live there but it was really difficult when we were there. For the tasks, we had to get a talk because I think In his perception ,hours are not really counted , after we talk to him it was better . It is really physical task but the weather is not too hot ! I think if your looking for a self development experience this is it!

Same feedback as above, as Juliette & Tanya are friends, came & left at the same time. Thanks to Juliette for her help again. All facilities are ready now (shower, outside toilet, fridge, etc.), basic but ready haha. Sorry the girls came at an early timing where we were just starting the building process. In any case, for the next volunteer, if you are looking for dopamine-inducing fun, hours of social interaction, this may be a boring tiring experience for you.
