Volunteer with Rescue Dogs in the Heart of Peru

If you like dogs and are thinking of volunteering, then you need to sign up to this. We had the best time and unfortunately we could only stay a week due to prior arrangements. The work is easy and can be anything from dog walking, brushing and cleaning the dogs and mainly just giving them lots of love. By the end of your stay you will want to adopt all the dogs! Felicia is an amazing and lovely woman who is so hard working and needs all the help she can get, plus her cooking is delicious! The apartment is really nice and you get your own bedroom.

I cannot recommend this volunteering program enough. The accommodation is amazing, the food is delicious and Felicia is an extraordinary woman. She is so hard-working and passionate. She loves the dogs and they love her. It's so rewarding to spend time with the dogs and cats and I will miss them, and Felicia, so much.

This was my first Worldpackers experience, and I cannot recommend it enough! Felicia is truly one of the most hardworking, caring people I have ever met. She is a true inspiration. I had so much fun with all the dogs, and truly loved the work I was doing. Felicia's food is also amazing, and she was very accommodating of me being vegetarian. She doesn't know any English, so be prepared to practice your Spanish! She is very good at helping you through it and talking in a way that you'll understand. Felicia, gracias por una experiencia increíble! Eres una inspiración!

This is my second time staying with Felicia. It was great once again. The dogs at the shelter are very friendly, and Felicia makes excellent meals for breakfast and lunch. I met other volunteers with whom I was able to interact. Great experience, I recommend it!

I loved my time with Felicia! You are 45 minutes outside of the city of Cusco, which means you get to experience how the locals live. You are not in a touristy area and will be one of the only non-locals. This provides a great opportunity to practice spanish and really immerse yourself in the culture. She has a beautiful apartment for the volunteers that is a 15 minute walk to the dog shelter. It can be quite loud at times, even at the apartment, so bring earplugs to sleep with. The work is easy, but can be tiring. I often found myself too tired to journey into the city after I was off.

I had an amazing time at Colitas Sin Techo. Felicia does an incredible job caring for so many dogs (and cats), ensuring that they get the care they deserve and so much more. I'm amazed at how much energy she has for it all! The dogs and cats themselves are adorable, super friendly and simply need a lot of love (so expect a lot of cuddles and play time). The days are nice and short so you still have so much time to enjoy the afternoon and can ask for your days off whenever. As a vegetarian, I also thoroughly enjoyed the food that was made (I always felt well taken care of).

Working with Felicia was one of the best experiences of my life! Working with the dogs is less like working and more like playing and it was so hard to leave at the end of the three weeks. Felicia is the kindest person ever and truly cares about your experience and well being. The apartment space is very nice and the food is delicious. I seriously cannot say enough good things about this volunteer experience.

Felicia is unlikely any other people we have met on our journey around Latin America. Every day she pours her heart into the life of dogs and other animals around her. At the same time, she takes very good care of the volunteers. Through her, we feel very connected with the life outside of typical tourism. The world of dogs is harsh and we are so happy to have contributed to some degree here. We deeply recommend this experience to everyone who wants to support the life of animals (especially dogs), learn Spanish (yes, no English is spoken ;) and connect with real authentic Peruvian life
