My stay at the lodge with Julio, Viento and other volunteers was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Julio was a wonderful host. Full of heart, helpful and caring. While it took a bit of communication in the beginning, we quickly found our rhythm and built a trusting relationship. My time there was an adventure that brought me closer to nature, to myself, and a deeply sustainable way of living. If you are brave to step out your comfort zone, do it and live in the moment! I could write many more things, but most importantly I want to say gracias de todo corazón Julio!! Nos vemos!! Nina :)

Simplicity in touch with nature. It was for me a authentic jungle and beach experience, I had a lot of time to observe the nature environment, because I felt far away from my normal outside world. A place and project where I felt soon connected to and liked to give my energy and passion into it. Julio was for me a good host, he showed me his good intentions for this place, this place inspired my creativity, we did good work together :) I'm greatful Julio that you share your minimalistic jungle life with others, curious traveler's like me ;) And I wish you and Viento all the best!

Beni hermanito , Dankema is your home too..is the pure energy of the jungle, come whenever you want (always welcome). I'm glad to coexist in space and time. Keep your fire alive to spot others in the life journey, same as you do with me.

big hugs x siempre y para siempre.

I stayed at the lodge for 3 weeks and the jungle / nature experience was great. I'm very glad that I spent my time there with other volunteers. Matthew and Zander's review is very accurate and I agree, that it was a bit unorganized and in general an up and down. In the end (the last few days) it got a bit better with getting clear instructions and Julio really showing how he wants something to be (for example which plants should be removed). I would have liked it, if it had been like that from the start. Despite everything, I was happy to have had the experience in the jungle.

Im just gonna write something cause you sent me a WhatsApp message asking to do it. If you are a volunteer I cant wake you up, I cant tell you everyday the same task, I talk with you many times explaining this a heart project, community and land connection. If you don't feel it that's ok, the only day I be more strict (Zander request) everybody complain. Breakfast is at 7 am not at 9 am...also the day I told you is forbidden cook at night you jell to me... You forgot this is my house

Beautiful, isolated coastal Caribbean jungle. Julio is a very inconsistent host. Sometimes being kind, thoughtful, and accommodating. For example when I was sick and needed meds, he escorted me to a pharmacy in town. Other times I found myself frustrated with the structure or lack there of. One morning we enjoy breakfast together until 8:30. The next morning we are being rushed to the point of skipping breakfast so we can adhere to the 8am start mandated by the schedule. I found the programming to be directionless. Julio rarely worked with us. I want to recommend but I cannot.

Dear Matthew, I sent you the schedule twice with all the task very well described at the pdf. When I gave you instructions you make faces to me and I wasn't feel good with that kind of interactions, so I try to avoid giving you instructions . The day you described I rushed to skipping breakfast was a request for your friend Zander who isn't in the platform and he comes with you. Be aware I wasn't happy with your behavior to not following my rules I just want to have peace in the place I live.

I loved my time at the lodge! The space was one of a kind. The reef was beautiful and so was the jungle. Julio was great with communication, hospitality and making sure I was comfortable the whole time. It's evident that his #1 goal is to make sure the volunteers have a good time. The food was fresh and delicious. I connect a lot with Julio's dog, Viento and I'll miss him a lot. I would definitely recommend this place to others as it brought me clarity, tranquility and peace.

I had a very interesting and deep experience at this place. It's a place where you have time to relax, to disconnect from everyday life and connect yourself with nature again. We did a lot of interesting works to maintain the property's special vibe. At the same time we spent a lot of time just talking to each other and having some really great evening conversations about every kind of topic. Julio, the manager of the place, is a really interesting personality from which you can learn a lot about living in harmony with nature and the important things in life. I really recommend this place!!!

Julio was really great and understanding at the lack of my experience, and was very helpful in allowing me to learn from my mistakes. In general he was very friendly and eager to share his experience.

John is very smart, proactive and well educated. The communication with him was very easy. It was his first experience at the jungle and he comes with good vibes to learn and help. We do many task together like painting, carpentry, gardening, etc . He is definitely the kind of person everybody wants as volunteer.

Before agreeing to this volunteer position, the host assured me that the activities we would be doing would be strictly as described in the ad. Yet after a couple of days, that same host fired one of the staff members and added their chores to our duties as volunteers. As a result, his respect for us as volunteers declined drastically, and he started to show signs of being controlling. This, unfortunately, led to another volunteer and me leaving early. Anyone interested in joining this volunteer position should definitely think twice.

First of all, the housekeeper was fired by the owner of the property not me. I didn't push anyone to do any task even I offer to you take pictures instead of rake the leaves. You need to know Nadine was complaining about the freedom I offer to you and before the lunch talk, she told me I need to be strict on the task for you cause she was doing everything, and it should be my work to put order to the other volunteers.
You forgot to mention I bring you to the project in a private car, set the lights in the dock house just for you cause you need it for take classess during the night. I also gave you my tent and I sleep in the old one and you know it was broke with a hole. At night I was always with you even when you need to take a shower cause you were afraid for the dark.
Also I cook for you many times and clean the dishes, I bring another worker for do the heavy duty and he was cooking for us, fishing for us and you didn't want to cook or clean the fish in any ocassion.

You didn't decline drastically, I told you for leaving for the bad faces and ironic words at the meeting. I wrote the situation to the worldpackers staff before sent you home.
