I loved my six weeks at the hostel! Anything I was worried about going in wasn't an issue. The work is manageable and hours are respected. All the staff are friendly and welcoming. The volunteers room is totally fine as long as you're prepared to be in a shared space. The hostel is social enough to meet people but never too crazy. I also got lucky with very fun volunteers to work and live with! 10/10 first volunteer experience

My 6 week stay at SJH was definitely an experience that will stay with me forever. Nico does a great job with picking the volunteers and it shows! I found the work to be fairly easy I wouldn't say housekeeping is the hardest just the hours of the shift cut right into your day. Also bring comfortable ear plugs if you are sensitive to sound at times you can be sharing the house with 7 other people so keep that in mind you all may not have the same sleeping schedules. Other then that I would 100% SJH to anyone looking to experience the beautiful city of the hostel and create amazing bonds.

I spent 5 weeks at the hostel & it truly became like another home to me! Here are some GTK things for future volunteers: The state of the volunteers' house highly depends on how the volunteers take care of it and communicate their needs for any e.g. maintenance. The working hours are always respected but some of the staff doesn't speak any English. I really enjoyed my stay at the hostel and would recommend it to anyone! Also a big shoutout to Nico. I had some health stuff during my stay there and he handled it perfectly. I'll never forget that. Much love to you all ❤️

The experience at the hostel was beautiful. The hostel is beautiful, a lovely garden and two magnificent bars. The work is fine, the hours are respected the only heavy shift is housekeeping. The best thing about the experience is definitely meeting new people and above all getting to know and create beautiful relationships with the other volunteers and hostel employees. One thing I would change is the rigidity in the working hours, because sometimes you find yourself doing things that are not too related to your shift just to complete the 5 hours. Otherwise super recommended experience!

The month of volunteering in the hostel has been an incredible experience! Both for the marvellous hostel and, above all, for the people I've been with, both the other volunteers and all the staff at the hostel itself. They are all great people and make you feel at home from the moment you arrive. As for the tasks, they are generally good, the only downside is that there are times when the housekeeping task is a bit hard when you have to do it many days in a row. In short, I would recommend this site and volunteering without hesitation!!

This was my first experience as a volunteer in a hostel and I couldn't be more happy and grateful about it! I met some incredible people, all the volunteers and staff were welcoming and nice. The shifts are fine too, hours were respected and I learned many different things with the help of the staff. We had a lot of fun in every shift (there's always a nice environment and good energy around). The hostel is beautiful, it has really nice gardens and the bar is great too. My time there flew by. I really enjoyed volunteering at the hostel and I would definitely recommend it to people who is inte

This was my first volunteering experience and an amazing one. As others have said, the best part of this experience are the friendships with the other volunteers (mis amores <3). Make the most out your days because the weeks pass by very quickly! the hostel team was very friendly. One critique I have is in regards of the schedule. The different shifts were not always equally distributed between volunteers and when you have the same shift for the whole week, it can be tiring. Overall, I would definitely recommend this experience. Thank you to all the friends I made and the SJH team!

This was my first volunteer experience! The hostel was big, clean, and beautiful. The work and hours are fair and respected. Housekeeping can be tiring especially because you usually do it for 5 days in a row. Bar, breakfast, and garden are super great shifts! Note: You must be comfortable sharing small spaces. There is a small house in the garden where the volunteers stay that doesn't have a lock on the bathroom, but everyone is very respectful so I never had any problems. Meeting the other volunteers and employees was the best part. I learned a lot of useful skills! Obrigada!
