Program Details
We have a large workshop which we are part way through rebuilding. It is also going to include a commercial kitchen and honey extraction room to process honey and preserve more of our produce we grow on our land. We have a small orchard with apples, pears and quinces and in recent years have been experimenting with making cider/quince jam/chutneys.
As we have been busy with the construction project the garden and veg patches have become a little neglected so if you are keen gardener who loves a challenge you will be in heaven!
Activities & Shift
We are new to WorldPackers and you would be our first volunteer. Although we have a lot of projects on the go we are very easy-going and want you to get the most out of your stay here. We would chat with you and come up with a weekly schedule based on you as an individual and what you hope to get out of the experience.
In the summer I have to check my bees at least twice a week so there could be opportunity for you to join me and learn bee-handling skills or have a day off to enjoy the surrounding area. At the end of July I extract honey so it's all hands on deck for a week or so.
I would definitely need your help on the workshop build but as my daughter, Evie is trying to grow some veg and look after their 3 year old and 11 month old children she often has her hands full so some gardening or childcare would be very useful if that's what you enjoy!
