I really enjoyed my time at the guest house. The schedule was perfect for me to explore the city and also felt useful at work. It was a great opportunity to connect with international travelers and get to know their culture. The daily tasks were as discussed and well summarized in a document. Yoonji gave a lot of insight of the local culture and suggested programs in the city.

Yoonji was my first Worldpackers host, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience! She made Seoul feel like home, always keeping me updated about events and great places to visit. The tasks were clear and I usually finished early, giving me plenty of time to discover the city and its surroundings. I also had the chance to meet other international travellers and local guests, which made exploring Seoul even better. I definitely recommend!

I had a great 1st time WP experience thanks to Yoonji & the guest house. It was pleasant and rewarding to learn new things, meet international travelers and to have great time w/ Yoonji and guests, from engaging chats at the living room to walks or meals around Seoul. Yoonji is flexible and gives you all space/autonomy needed, no micromanagement. She will provide all the basics info for activities at your arrival and details you learn on the job as you go. She takes extra efforts to provide info on things to do, places to visit or eat and make sure people feel at home. I really appreciated it :)

The second experience in Bueno Day was great. I came back because Yoonji invited me to host her guest while she was abroad for work. I hope this is just a start to our long and fruitful relationship.

I'm home here and it is thanks to Yoonji. From the beginning, she made me feel like I belonged, walked me through the local market, the nearby park, shared language tips, cultural insights, and even places to explore that matched my personality. But what really stayed with me was a small, quiet moment: I had mentioned that I left bags of American cookies out of my luggage and was kind of regretting it. A little later, she sent me the location of a place nearby where I could I could get cookies. That gesture may seem small, but it says everything about her. She listens. She notices. She cares.

Hours were good, about 2.5hrs of work every morning. Maybe a communication or cultural difference but she can come across as quite rude and dismissive, always needing to be right and not listening to you when you try to have a discussion, small chat and casual conversation was good and no issue there. Be aware that you will be sharing a small room with the host, sleeping on a very thin mattress on the ground that you will need to roll up every morning.

Yoonji replied

It's unreasonable to expect kindness when you repeatedly ignored instructions and showed disrespect. "2.5 hours" is untrue; on days without laundry, work is <30 mins, yet you lied about refilling the low towel stock despite multiple reminders, causing a shortage for guests. I cleaned your food residue & unfinished tasks but you never apologized. The room, mattress & option to use guest beds were clearly stated. Mutual respect & honesty are basics you failed to uphold. I can't be more generous.

My experience volunteering here was overall positive, the work was well organized and easy to follow, with clear instructions for everything. The host shared information about events and things to do, which I really appreciated. Accommodation-wise, it's worth knowing that you share the same room with the host. It's a simple setup - just a mattress on the floor in a space that's also used for laundry so it can feel a bit tight at times. Overall, I'd recommend this experience to someone looking for a straightforward and easy volunteer position who doesn't mind basic living conditions.

I had a good experience at the guesthouse. It is located in a residential neighbourhood, but well connected to the centre. There are restaurants and a local market nearby. The work is easy and the hostel is small ( 3 rooms) and very clean. My 1st day was a bit stressful as the host was busy and some of the instructions were confusing to me, but I got used to it. I would recommend this project to patient and mature volunteers who don't mind remarks and want to be in an international environment. I had great evenings talking to the guests and the host, who gave me a lot of tips to visit Seoul.

Yoonji is one of the kindest people I've met, and the experience at her place was very pleasant. The spaces are small, but quite comfortable. Yoonji and I spent some time together, and during the rest of the time, I had the opportunity to explore the city. The shift management was good. I highly recommend this experience. :)
