I had a great time volunteering here on the island. The host was very accommodating when we needed to go into the town as it was hard to get to without a quad or hike. The work was as agreed upon beforehand and the staff were friendly to work with. I'd recommend this to anyone looking to reconnect with nature and enjoy beautiful views!

I had a great experience working here. This is a guest house so from time to time things might change last minute and if you are flexible with David he will definitely be flexible for you! I would say if you are flexible and have good communication skills this would be a good fit for you. I made some really good memories here and the waves are the best. I will definitely be coming back!

My experience in the surf camp was truly wonderful. Between hiking, kayaking, and surfing, I found the nature escape I had been looking for. The place is stunning, and David and Cristina are always kind and helpful. As for the tasks, they are simple and almost always allow for more than half a day of free time, which gives you plenty of time to fully enjoy the area and connect with the locals. One downside was the continuos tensions within the team, which affected the work atmosphere, especially because in a place like this, you'd expect nothing but peace and tranquility.

The place is a paradise, completely immersed in nature. It's isolated, which guarantees its authenticity. The guesthouse is very beautiful. David and Cristina have always been very kind and helpful. The only significant flaw was the negative atmosphere within the team (not the volunteers), mainly fueled by the cooker, a very negative person, always busy badmouthing everyone and creating a bad mood. Truly absurd in a peaceful place like this!

It was a beautiful experience to volunteer in the surf camp. Shy (the chef) David and Cristina (the owners) are always kind to explain how to do things to ensure a smooth service. They really appreciate proactivity, and whenever they needed a schedule change (very rarely) they were super respectful and considerate when asking. I had plenty of time to go walking, swimming or just chilling playing music with the guests ( best memory I take 🧡). Since the place is remote all meals where covered, good quality food, I am soo gonna miss that. I will definitely come back. Obrigadissima!

I loved my experience at the surf camp Surfhouse - I enjoyed being in such a remote location and really being able to connect with nature and disconnect from electronic distractions. It is a very good place to reset your mind and body and the work is very fair, four hour shifts, with plenty of time to explore.

Had an amazing time in the surf camp, I didn't know what to expect before coming, but it was a very unique experience, a good reset, connecting with nature, good surfing and also met amazing locals and had a great time we the other volunteers. There is a lot to explore and the tasks are not very demanding. I definitely recommend it :)

I felt really welcomed. This place is so peaceful and adventurous at the same time. My shifts were for four hours six days a week. I helped in the kitchen and around the guesthouse. I had a great time with the other staff members. Be prepared that this area is pretty remote and there is no grocery store, they need to get all the stuff from town. All my stay I was always wondering how they got everything to this place as you can get here only by quad bike or your feet. I am glad I was there and that I have this experience.

Loved making friends w/ locals, volunteers, & guests. Sadly leadership isn't good. Volunteers have left before me, staff were unhappy but afraid to say anything-energy of guesthouse is negative but if u speak, they interrupt u. Negativity starts w leadership yet they take no responsibility. Photos on the page is not where u'll be sleeping-actual place has mold, a collapsing ceiling & a landlord that broke into my room while I was alone naked late at night. I stayed in SJ for friends, nature & cuz I loved the island - I left guesthouse cuz of the double standard. Camped rest of my time there.
