Program Details

THE FARM SANCTUARY:
*This is a Farm Sanctuary and we work very hard for our animals.

*Due to the kind of help required and living arrangements, we can only host male helpers.

We have many sheep, horses, cattle and dogs. The Farm is connected by cable car as there are two barns, one up in the mountain for the sheep and one down the valley for horses and highland cattle. In summer we move all animals to different mountain pasture.

WHO WE LOOK FOR:
*We are looking for reasonably strong, reliabel, friendly, honest and hard working volunteers, preferably with driving license, who loves animals, working outdoors and that feels comfortable being in solitude. It is important that helpers are healthy minded and able to work both independently and under instruction. Alcool only in moderation!

If you are looking for a place with an international touch (I speak german, english and italian), and you are not allergic to dogs, hay or horses in an amazing landscape you will be welcomed!

Activities & Shift

WHAT TYPE OF WORK:
*There may be periods of intensive help depending on the time of year, so be prepared for hard work.

We do most of our work outdoors and sometimes we cannot choose the weather, so be prepared to work in any kind of weather !

Help is mostly needed during April until November but there are tasks to be done all year round, so during the winter, (December until March) I can also host someone (max two helpers).

The help will involve April-August: From mid April onwards we are going to spend a lot of time preparing the farm and the fields to put the animals outdoors for the summer.

The Summer months are the busiest time of the year, we work hard, we make hay on steep alpine meadows and bring the hay into the stable. Helpers should be in good physical condition and not afraid of hard work. We also water and sprinkler the fields and regularly check on the animal

Rules

*We usually try to respond within 24 hours ( but sometimes we need a couple of days) ; it would be useful if you wouldn`t apply at the same time to many different places, because once we decide to host you here we truly rely on you coming here.

*Due to the kind of help required and living arrangements, we can only host male helpers. No smokers preferred !

HOURS EXPECTED: Flexible...working with animals requires sometimes more, sometimes less time.

COMMUNICATION: Before you come here, make sure you have a working SIM card that works in Switzerland to communicate with What`s App. (or get a Swiss SIM from most post offices on arrival) .

ACCOMODATION: The apartment is close to the farm. Due to the living arrangements it is not possible to live with me, so you will have the flat to yourself / with other volunteers. The flat must be kept clean and tidy at all times!
