Nico and the whole the boat Team were beyond welcoming from the moment I arrived in the boat. Truly an incredible experience with incredible people. From the town locals to the job itself, a once in a lifetime opportunity for me. Thank you Nico and your whole family/team for the trust and I hope to see you all again some day!

Good experience overall. The beach is right in front, and the town is small but really beautiful with amazing views. Work hours are respected, and the hosts are helpful, though shifts are sent the night before, which makes planning ahead a bit hard. Most work was office/flyers, but I could join boat trips if there was space. We didn't spend much time with the host family as they were busy during high season. The best part was meeting other volunteers, we had a lot of fun together and made great memories. Some downsides, but a rewarding experience if you love the beach!

I had a mixed experience volunteering with the boat. Dea and Nicko were lovely and the boat trips when we got to go on the boat was amazing. I wasn't expecting to work three night shifts per week until 11.30pm alone handing out flyers in the street. Shifts were received usually late the boat before which made planning hard and because of the shift times there weren't often many volunteers off at the same time to hang out. The accomodation was quite basic but in a really great location next to the beach. I would recommend if you like lots of beach time and don't mind working nights.

Thank you for your feedback. From the beginning, we explain to all volunteers that what we ask for is flexibility, since this is a busy seasonal job and we work every day. We never asked you to work extra hours.
We also feel it’s important to mention that most of your concerns seemed to be more about wanting time for parties rather than the actual volunteer tasks. We wish you the best in your future travels.

I had an amazing month at the boat. A big thank you to Niko, Dea, Joni and all the captains for being so welcoming! The majority of your shifts will be spent in the office or flyering, the tasks are easy and whilst there isn't formal training, Dea and the other volunteers are quick to help and answer any questions. The boat shifts are amazing and don't feel like work at all! The accommodation is basic but Niko and Joni listened to our feedback and are always making improvements. This was my first volunteer experience and I am so grateful to have spent it here!

I had an amazing month here! The work is easy and going on boat tours twice a week was a huge highlight. Himarë is small but perfect for beach lovers. Niko and Dea were kind and supportive (addressed concerns quickly) - and we socialised with the captains often! It can be a bit unorganised during peak season, but go with the flow and ask questions if unsure! Accommodation is basic but improving (no stove/windows however AC being installed soon!). Some social attitudes here may not align with progressive values— if you're part of a marginalised group/concerned about this message me for info!

Thank you Niko, Dea and Joni for having me! I really enjoyed getting to know the other volunteers and going out on the boat. If you're doing this experience, just know that with limited days off it's not super easy to explore surrounding areas in Albania, so you will spend all your time in Himare which is quite small, but it is a very charming little town! The schedule also comes out every evening, which makes it a bit hard to plan your days ahead at all. It was great getting free lunch as well as some groceries paid for! Thanks again!

This was my second time visiting and volunteering with Himare the boat. Himare and this family that you work with will always have a special place in my heart. You get great accommodation close to the beach/center, amazing hospitality by the family and more. As long as you have a hardworking personality and enjoy talking with people, you should be great at the job on the boat and in the offices.

My time with the boat was such a fantastic experience!! Niko, Joni, and Aleka were absolute legends - the work itself was super easy, but the best part was for sure waking up to those stunning views and heading out on the boat! ♥️

Dear Niko, Joni, and Alecka, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all of you at the boat for an incredible experience. I felt cared for throughout my time there, and I truly appreciated the balance between work and immersing myself in the local culture. This experience will stay with me forever, as I made some wonderful friends and learned so much more than I anticipated, including the history of Albania, as well as some of the language. I highly recommend this opportunity to anyone considering it—just go for it! Thank you again for everything! This was so much more than a job!

I LOVED this experience! When you aren't on the gorgeous Ionian Sea playing tour guide and dj, you'll work in office booking or promoting and none of it really feels like work. Himarë is pretty small so you'll get close with the locals and everyone knows the company and family. I felt very comfortable and safe and I would do this exchange a 1000 times over. It was so amazing and SO beautiful.
