The experience

Duties that include following instructions for:
   •   Shovelling, wheelbarrowing materials: soil, mulch, compost, horse manure, & stones & weeding garden beds
   •   Using garden tools such as forks, shovels, rakes, and saws

There maybe opportunities to assist in your area of interests and skills.

This is a physical role, best suited to someone who enjoys outdoor work and contributing in a productive, peaceful hinterland setting.

Intermediate English or Intermediate English

Between 20 and 40 years old

Only hosts solo volunteers (doesn’t accept couples or partners)

Program Details

We live on acreage in the Gold Coast Hinterland in Bonogin, 15 mins and 11km away from the closest shops: Mudgeeraba/Robina so you must have your own vehicle as there is NO public transport. The roads are not safe for walking, running or cycling on. However, we have had many people stay who don't have accommodation. We can pick you up from Gold Coast airport or Robina train station if you are arriving from Brisbane; or any nearby other location.

My charges for pick up/drop off are as follows:
For pick up in daylight hours: about 9am-6pm. Outside of those hours there is an additional charge.
To/from Robina train station or bus stop or Robina Town Centre: $20 each way
To Gold Coast Airport (Coolangatta) $50 each way
Any time we are planning trips out to Mudgeeraba/Robina or further, you are welcome to join us and they are complimentary.
Any other destinations and special trips that you may need to do will be charged at Uber rates of $1.50/km.
Any time spent with you organising anything e.g. mobile phone plans or groceries, then I'll expect that time to be repaid. My rate is based on an hourly rate of $35/h for 1 hours work.
If you don't want to pay this money then i will accept hours worked in exchange for the cost of time and or mileage. This can be negotiated and agreed upon before hand.

Activities & Shift

The work can be done at anytime, so I consider Saturday, Sunday & public holidays work days as well. Work time depends on the weather: whether it’s too hot to work, or raining, whether I’m available or you are. Some people who stay work outside of the home as well, to earn an income.

We need help with gardening: shovelling & wheelbarrowing soil/mulch/compost/horse manure/bricks, rocks or weeds. weeding, & depending on your passions and skills: handyman duties, carpentry, painting, cleaning. You must be able to shovel & wheelbarrow this mulch around the garden. You will be using garden tools like: forks, shovels, rakes, & saws.

Rules

You must like animals – we have 2x dogs, & 1x cat, who is an indoor cat.

We recycle everything. All fruit and vege waste is composted; all plastics, tins, or glass; are cleaned and put in the recycling bin, as well as paper and cardboard/or the 10c recycling bin.
