The experience

Hello julley! friend's 🙏 Me stanzin my wife tsomo and kids live in a farm stay. Come help us with cooking ,office work and farming works is depending on the season to season changes. We believe in sustainable living, where everything that comes from the land returns to it. Our farm is home to three cows, a playful cat, a friendly dog, and a variety of birds. What you offer

15 hours of help per week

Gardening: Help grow plants and cultivate gardens

Animal Care: Help look after and take care of animals.

Farming: Plant crops, sow seeds and help in outside tasks.

Kitchen Hand: Help prepare, finish and serve meals.

Additional fee required

Amount: US$ 5 Per day

Fee pays for: Materials for volunteer activities

Description: The cost of living in the high mountains is quite high, and to make sure volunteers are truly committed to showing up, we ask for a small contribution. This helps us cover basic expenses and ensures that those who come are serious about the experience.

Requirements

Intermediate English or Intermediate Hindi

Between 25 and 45 years old

Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers

Program Details

What we have on the farm:
Crops: Barley, green peas, potatoes, and mustard (these are common in our area).
Fruit trees: Apricots, a few apple trees, and one walnut tree.
Many poplar and willow trees – we use this wood for heating and cooking in winter.
Animals: Three cows, one dog, and one cat.
Whether you enjoy working in the fields, helping with daily chores, or supporting small tasks in the homestay, we’d love to welcome you. In return, we offer a cozy place to stay, good food, and meaningful exchange in a beautiful mountain setting.


Activities & Shift

FARMING SEASON BEGIN IN APRIL: 
Cutting trees,stocks wood for winter, Restoration Fields, Construction, Planting tree,Preparation for gardening,Planting flowers Etc.

SEASON: 1
Compost for nourishing the fields. Watering the fields to became softer, We used (zoo) Ox tractor in some place. for pull or carry heavy things during Organic gardening season we Plant: potatoes, carrot, onion, Turnip, Cabbage, Spinach, Peas, Cauliflower, Radish, Leek, Coriander, flower, Etc Crops also include barley, wheat, mustard. Using animal (zoo)
Barley, wheat, and other grains are pounded with mortar and pestle to make 4/5 different flours and mustard oil. We used traditional Ladakhi stone mill running by water. 

SEASON: 2
Mainly gardening work: weeding, watering, harvesting wild plants, household management, Eco tourist season.

SEASON: 3
Fruit season, Eco tourism, during harvest, visitor are shown how to cut the various crops using a knife, learn cooking ladakhi,Indian food, and packed vegetables peas, potatoes, etc, from garden.

SEASON: 4
A washing Barley, wheat, and other grains are pounded with mortar and pestle to make 4/5 different flours and mustard oil. We used traditional Ladakhi stone mill running by water.

SEASON: 5 in October
Apricot season only in our village,
Harvesting potato,Carrots,Vegetable By using Animal (zoo) packing,Divided the size and stored to cook in winter and seed for next season also Environmental work cleaning the fields Collects garbage, Mainly plastics, bottles.

NON FARMING CAN BE ANY TIME
Restoration,office work, Environmental, Cooking Ladakhi Indian food, Construction using local materials (Soil, Clay, Stone, wood) making bricks, Working with ponies, Alternative construction with low cost technology, House management,Ecotourism,panting,Carpentry.


Rules

Few hours help depends on the activitys.
In the village, time isn't fixed—things flow with the rhythm of the day.
We might call on you to help when something comes up, so flexibility and a willingness to go with the flow are important.
