I had I good time at the finca. Maria was always around and you can talk to her anytime. All the other stuff have an open ear all the time and can speak with everybody. All are really friendly. The accommodation was really nice. There is a big space just for the volunteers. The work was easy and I got good instruction! The area is beautiful and you can go for hikes and go with the horses and explore the whole place. Don't be afraid of any animals; and you will need a lot of mosquito spray!! But I can totally recommend this project!

Volunteering at the guest house was my fist Worldpackers experience and it couldn't have been better! I had a truly amazing time the three weeks I spend at the Finca. I loved the staff, the horses and the animals on the site. The staff became my friends and my second family, I will truly miss them. It was also the perfect place for me to practice my Spanish and to connect with nature the time I spent there. I truly recommend the Finca for those who don't mind mosquitoes, insects and heat;). The working hours are fair and there is a lot of free time. It's an opportunity not to miss!

I had an amazing time in Poptún. The hours and work were as agreed. I had my own space in a private room which was fitted with a washroom and a hammock. For food I had full access to the kitchen where I would work around the restaurant staff to cook my own meals and the ingredients were fresh, delicious and plentyful. They even had their own bakery with some amazing bread. My Spanish was very limited but the staff were helpful in breaking down language barriers. This was a great opportunity to reconnect with nature in a beautiful peaceful place.

I had an amazing time at the guest house! It was a lot of fun working with the horses - and it was really chill. The people are really nice and flexible. They don't really speak english tho so it is a great opportunity to learn or improve your spanish! There were not a lot of volunteers, bit you hat a lot of time for yourself, could explore the surrounding, go horse riding and take part in all the tours. There is also a beautiful natural spring on the property. Muy tranquil.

The people were kind, but never met the host. coming with minimal Spanish made the experience very hard to coordinate. They spoke little English making tasks and asking for help very difficult, when I struggled it felt very hard. The living conditions were good but gave full access to nature coming in, I hand an ants nest come down my net on my first night. No real escape from nature. The horses were covered in ticks and first task was to remove them with my hands. I later had 3 on my body from which there was no cleanliness or real support on removing them. The experience is pretty isolating

Maria was a really good host. She made sure i was confortable and was always understanding. I left the finca earlier than planned because the job wasnt what i was expected but it was still a good experience overall. If you want to disconnect from real life and take a break in the nature this is the place for you !

Living at the guest house and working in Poptun will always have a special place in my heart. There was a lot of creative freedom in the role. Living here is a rustic experience in the middle of the forest, so being prepared for that helps. The wifi wasn't available in specific places but the hotel is currently updating it. Come with a lot of insect repellent and anti-itch meds as the mosquitoes are always there! As a photographer, I was able to come up with news ways to tell Finca's story and will come back again so I'd recommend it :)

I had a fantastic stay at the guest house, your stay will really take you back to nature. The hours and days off were all as agreed, I had a lovely private room and a shared bathroom. The horses were so sweet and I loved every minute of working with them. They took me to see the caves one day and they were stunning.

My time at the guest house was a truly incredible experience. For my first volunteer position I did not know what quite to expect but this placement has given me a lot of confidence to volunteer in the future. I want to highlight above all else just how incredible the people at Finca are. I had minimal experience with the Spanish language, but everybody was so patient while I struggled to explain what I wanted to say! I will miss the friends I made - we had a lot of fun, and hope to go back one day!

Working at the Finca was truly a really great experience. If you are really into living in the jungle and learning how to problem solve around power outages then this is perfect. It really felt like a home away from home. One tip I would say is to use google translate if you don't know Spanish or try to learn a bit before hand because almost all the staff just speak Spanish. The food they provide to cook with was always fresh and I never felt nervous to ask for a favor or ask about the culture in Guatemala. I will truly miss all the staff at finca they were wonderful.
