I had an amazing time at the guest house! I loved working with the horses and being surrounded by nature. We were given a lot of freedom with the horses, so I would recommend applying only if you have experience with horseback riding. I made wonderful friendships and would love to come back someday!

I had a really great time at the finca! The other volunteers and the people that work there are all really nice and fun to work with. Working with the horses was amazing, it never felt like work because it was so much fun to do. The work hours are good and on our free days we could plan fun trips to Flores and Tikal. It's a really beautiful and fun place and i definitely recommend volunteering here!

The guest house is an experience to remember for the rest of your life. Everything is just wonderful from the amazing views of the beautiful land to the magnificent culture that surrounds the area within. It's a very welcoming experience to be a volunteer at the Finca, they truly treat you like family even if you don't speak any Spanish 😂. The general maintenance work was hard to get around in the first days which is expected so you can figure out where everything is that you need to get the job done. You can learn a lot from the experiences here and i highly recommend it.

Despite good reviews, my experience here was unsafe and disheartening. The horses were not “wild” but dangerously untrained and fearful. I was bucked off a 3-year-old mare, Estrella, without any warning of her behavior. Many horses kicked, bit, or panicked when touched, and my friend and I removed about 50 ticks each. They weren't brushed or had their hooves cleaned before rides. After no communication, schedule or warning the owner, who was absent all week then abruptly told us to leave, saying “life's not fair.” The place is unprofessional and neglectful—avoid volunteering here.

I was bucked off a 3-year-old mare, Estrella, without any warning of her behavior. Many horses kicked, bit, or panicked when touched, and my volunteer mate and I removed about 90 ticks in total. They weren't brushed or had their hooves cleaned before rides. After no guidance, warning or communication the owner, who was absent all week, then abruptly told us to leave, saying “life's not fair.” The place is unprofessional and neglectful—avoid volunteering here.

I would describe staying at the guest house as a wonderful experience if you love nature, animals and especially horses. The work itself is quite easy and enjoyable, but the horses are very wild, they can sometimes kick or bite, so you need to feel confident around them. It's also really important to speak Spanish to fully enjoy the stay — communication is a big part of daily life. Since I don't speak much Spanish and ended up being the only volunteer, I felt quite lonely and decided to leave earlier than planned. But the place is lovely and the people are kind.

It's a very relaxing volunteering experience, there's not that many working hours, you only work when they need you to. You have full access to the restaurant kitchen and there's always a lot a fresh things to eat! We really enjoyed working with Jorge and the horses! However, it's not really supervized and we had a bad experience with some of the volunteers who establish their « own rules » wanted to take control of the group, which we didn't enjoy that much. The volunteers corner was also very dirty, we literaly had to shower in vomit… Overall a good experience but a lack of structure :)

My time at the finca was unprecedented, it is the dream come true for every horse lover as you get to work with horses every! They are always a lot of volunteers and i found incredible friends for life:) Sth that did bother me is that you are expected to wash the dishes in the kitchen quite often (which does not count as working hours), on top of the already really demanding work with the wild horses:/ Be aware of the fact that you need a lot of experience in working with horses/ riding horses and an adequate level of Spanish
