The experience

We are an NGO, promoting Environmental Protection projects around Iceland.

We are looking for a highly organized and self-starter participant to help us maintain the housekeeping shores along with the other participants.

You will be leading the household tasks, and coordinating the other volunteers; we want a participant that can help us on our path to becoming a Sustainable Center!
Minimum stay of 10 weeks

What you offer

30 hours of help per week

Cleaning: Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.

Housekeeping: Help with changing the bed linens and general housekeeping.

Building & Repairing: Help with a wide range of repairs or building.

Gardening: Help grow plants and cultivate gardens

What you get

2 days off per week

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Team Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other people.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Discounts on Tours: Get discounts for tours and excursions around town.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Free Tours: We’ll take you on tours and rides around town. For free!

Pick Up: We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Certificate: Get a certificate of completion after you finish your experience.

Basic Internet Access: Basic speed internet for you to work remotely

Fluent English

Between 25 and 35 years old

Only hosts solo volunteers (doesn’t accept couples or partners)

Program Details

We will provide Accommodation and food in exchange for your time and organizational skills. We provide a good balanced diet, we encourage a vegetarian diet!

Siglufjörður is a town of about 1,300 people, located in North Iceland. It is the northernmost town. 6 hours drive from Reykjavik. The closeness to nature is always within reach, whether you wish to go on a hike, play golf, try ocean swimming or go skiing.

We welcome international participants coming to Iceland to learn about environmental protection.

House capacity of 15 people. We have many participants arriving/departing and participating in many activities, therefore we need extra help to maintain our facilities.

You might also help to do the shopping at the supermarket (1 hour away by car)

Ensuring the tasks are done daily creating and comfortable space for everyone.

Activities & Shift

Household tasks:

Take care of the facilities;

*You will be responsible for cleaning and reporting any safety hazards to the manager in charge.

*Rooms: making sure they are ready to welcome participants; clean linen and vacuum

*Common areas: keep the areas neat and tidy
