What an incredible experience. My time at the shelter has truly been fantastic. A must do for dog lovers who want to make a meaningful contribution during their travels. Great food with a wide variety of options, clean accommodation sharing with no more than one other person. Very fair shifts and distribution of easy work. And such a beautiful part of the world! You get to volunteer alongside an incredible team (Jazmin and Toon you are amazing), fantastic volunteers, and above all else the most gorgeous dogs that will stay in your heart for life.

I had a great time at the shelter. It's truly a special place with so many beautiful and unique dogs. The communication was great, it was always clear when your shifts were. The shifts themselves weren't hard at all, leaving plenty of time to spend with the dogs! The accommodation is perfectly fine and the included food was very tasty! I stayed for 2 weeks, beforehand I thought that would be plenty, but it was way too short! I would recommend staying at least 3 weeks. I will definitely return someday!

I absolutely enjoyed volunteering at the shelter. Being able to help and play with the dogs is truly amazing. What I also liked is the structure. It was very clear what you had to do at what time. When you had a lunch break, when you were done for the day. The room itself was very basic, but I understand that. I mean you do have everything you need. For the food there were options for vegan, vegetarian and chicken so that's good. Was a bit spicy, but alright. The host, Jazmine, does an incredble job. The way she looks after the dogs! Overall I would highly recommend volunteering at the shelter

I had the most incredible 10 weeks as volunteer lead at the shelter. I can't articulate how incredible this place is, but once you've been, you will understand exactly what I mean. The owner and manager are incredibly passionate about what they do and this shows. The dogs are so loved and despite being rescues they feel like pets. As long as you don't mind a bit of hard work and getting dirty then this experience is for you. I can promise you one thing, it will feel impossible to leave, and from personal experience you'll already be planning your next trip back!

The shelter is an awesome experience! You'll get dirty, smelly and tired but when you look at happy and satisfied dogs at the end of your shift, it feels like it was completely worth it. I especially liked the clear schedule and structure the shelter offered me. There was never a situation, in which I didn't know what to do or where I have to be. I can definitely recommend this adventure for everyone who values community and meaning over a 5 Star Hotel!

My husband and I had an amazing time at the shelter! We met wonderful people, enjoyed meaningful and satisfying work with just the right amount of challenge and benefited from impressive organization and support system (clear tasks and expectations, direct and respectful communication). And - we loved the dogs so much! A tip for future volunteers - bring quick-drying clothing and footwear that can get wet (Crocs seemed ideal) because you will bathe dogs every shift (there are also pre-owned clothes that you can use). Sending love to the shelter family!

It was a pleasure to help at the shelter ! You will work with 36 dogs and help take care of them by cleaning their zones, bathing them, walking them and play with them. All the dogs are gentle, you will create a real bond with them. If you like dogs, this is a place for you ! The only thing is that it is far away from a city but every week we go one evening in the town. I had a really great time here, I loved being with the dogs every day and I miss them !!

Volunteering at the shelter was rewarding and meaningful. Tasks like feeding, walking, cleaning, and caring for dogs were well organized and fulfilling. The animals were a joy, and the volunteer atmosphere was warm and supportive. Accommodation is basic, with open bathrooms and insects—not luxurious but part of the experience. You'll get dirty quickly, especially when caring for disabled dogs, so bring durable clothes. Essentials like a washing machine are available, and the gift shop sells basics. This place is truly filled with love and care at every corner. I'd gladly return anytime! :)

A great experience all around, especially if you're a dog lover. Being able to build connections with the dogs and make an impact by helping the shelter run is rewarding and something I will always look back on. The volunteer team I worked with made the experience even better too

This was my second time at the shelter, and somehow it was even more special than the first. It's still the most heartwarming thing I've done while traveling—you can't help but fall in love with every single dog. This time I also got to help and support an amazing group of volunteers who truly care. the shelter has left a piece of itself with me. If you love dogs and want to make a real difference, you cannot miss this experience. Jazmine, the founder, is incredible and has worked tirelessly to help thousands of dogs through the shelter and VetVan. I'm incredibly grateful to her for everything.
