I worked in the café for two weeks and it was amazing. Brad respected the hours and the work environment was very friendly. I always got my lunch and coffee included. I stayed in a hostel for the first week and then moved into a villa. The hostel was good for meeting travelers but I didn't feel comfortable with the staff working there so I would recommend staying in the villa. Otherwise, I really enjoyed volunteering in Lagos and would love to come back😊

My time at 9Lives hostel waa one to never forget! What really makes it fun is working with the other volunteers and socializing with the guests! The hours are fair, the work is easy and it's up to you to make it a good experience!

I really enjoyed my experience at Twin Fin. Everybody was nice and I felt very welcomed. I worked in the kitchen and I really liked working with the cooks and learning from them. I had a lot of time for myself because my scheduale was very different from the other workers', but also because people didn't really involved me in their lives. Bradley was very nice to me and very helpful. Unfortunatly, he wasn't so nice with his employees and that didn't really create a comfortable and caring environment. Also the house had a lot of problems: no washing machine or oven, no door keys, just 2 stove

Thank you for your feedback about your time with us! We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed working in the kitchen, learning from the cooks, and felt welcomed by our team. It’s great to know you found the team helpful and appreciated the experience overall.

However, I’d like to address a few points for clarity:

Firstly, working in a kitchen can indeed be stressful at times. It’s a fast-paced environment, and while this might occasionally seem intense, our team shares a strong bond and often relaxes and has fun together after work. The fact that many of our staff and volunteers return year after year reflects the camaraderie and positive experience they have here.

As for the accommodation, you mentioned some issues that were temporary during your stay. We had misplaced door keys at the time and were waiting for new locks to arrive, but typically each staff member has a key. Regarding the oven, it was disconnected for safety reasons after incidents involving it being left on, which posed a serious risk. That said, the kitchen is equipped with several appliances, including an air fryer, microwave, and electric hot plates, sufficient for the team to share.

We’re constantly working to improve and ensure our staff and volunteers have a great experience. Your feedback is appreciated, and we hope you gained valuable skills and memories during your time with us. All the best on your future adventures!

I really liked the work at the Café! Everyone was really nice and I was able to connect to people from different nationalities. The tasks are very easy and more than doable. The property is 20 minutes walking distance from the city center. Lagos is such a beautiful city. The accomodation is not the best and I needed my time to arrange myself with it. But if yo're just there to sleep and eat, you're fine! Overall, it was nice being there. I had such a good time! (:

My experience with the guest house & NineLives was an I retesting one. What made it a good one was mostly other volunteers. Bradley, however nice, can be hard to communicate with effectively. Living conditions were subpar, with things breaking constantly and taking weeks to be fixed. The work was easy and the hours were respected. I didn't get to work in the cafe at all, so cannot comment on it. All in all, I did have a good time, but definitely set your expectations accordingly when coming here. I think the new hostel manager will really help improve the experience for next volunteers!

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We greatly value the insights provided. We're glad to hear that overall, your experience was positive, We take note of your observations.

We'd like to clarify a few points mentioned in your review. Firstly, accommodation for staff is a private property rental, living accommodation in our tourist town is hard to find and very costly this is why we rent a private property to accommodate our staff. All equipment and amenities are only used by stay and are contently upgraded. We're committed to ensuring our staff's comfort and well-being.

Additionally, it's important to highlight that damages to the living space plus wear and tear on equipment are often caused by staff members of necessitating repairs. We acknowledge the inconvenience this may cause to new staff members and are actively addressing these repairs despite the logistical challenges of a rural location presents which can make the repair process longer than what one might be accustomed.

Your feedback is invaluable as we strive to enhance the experience for all volunteers and staff members

Bradley is a really nice host! The experience is very laid back and chill. I stayed in the staff house instead of the hostel, it was about 10 mins walk away. The house doesn't lock but there are always people around and a cute dog named Zoe. The hours worked in the hostel were always respected. Jobs were to clean the beds, hostel and check guests in and out and general upkeep. Some of the facilities should be updated but I think once you go in with an open mind it's all very chill and laid back and you will have a really fun time in Lagos! Thanks for having me! 😊
