Deforestation & Biodiversity loss Revitalization - Western Zambia


The experience

You're most welcome to learn agroforestry here in Silundu village where we grow most of our food! We can germinate and grow even the hardest seeds you could ever imagine.

Help mitigate deforestation by teaching the community importance of taking care of the eco system and having community workshops, and plant as many trees as possible!

We also need help in grant writing and fundraising, social media marketing for the organization!


What you offer

4 hours of help per day

Social Work: Help with volunteer work in local projects and communities.

Building & Repairing: Help with a wide range of repairs or building.

Farming: Plant crops, sow seeds and help in outside tasks.

Gardening: Help grow plants and cultivate gardens

Additional fee required

Amount: US$ 15 Per day

Fee pays for: Benefits for travelers, Materials for volunteer activities, and Donation to project

Description: Volunteers contribute $15 per day to cover food expense, accommodation maintenance and help finance activities of the organization.

Requirements

Beginner English or Fluent English

Between 18 and 80 years old

Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers

Be from outside Zambia

Program Details

We teach and demonstrate onsite organic vegetable and fruit growing in the barren sand, ( volunteers planting seeds in grow bags and garden beds)compost making from agricultural waste products, and sometimes left over foods. how to make plant infused oils from our organic tree leaves and flowers, language and cultural exchange. We also teach how to cook traditional lozi cuisine, cook how to bake anything in a primitive oven.


Activities & Shift

Work is easier and enjoyable in the morning for two hours and afternoon when it's cool for another two hours! The shifts can be discussed with the volunteers, the schedule is flexible as long as target of the day is achieved


Rules

The most important is respect for everyone irrespective of race, age or origin, effective communication, volunteers must be free to communicate, either asking questions where they are not clear, or where there is a problem or challenge.
