Fanja and Luca are really amazing and very passion driven people. They are true craftsmen with a lot of stuff to teach you, as well as a lot of advice and suggestions on how to spend your free time. Furthermore they have a really great team behind them, who really allows you to immerse in the true local experience of La Spezia, and italian culture. They respect the working hours, and are very flexible in case you want to do something which may require them to reschedule their plans a bit, as long as you let them know in advance. Very strong recommendation.

I had a good time at Fanja and Luca's place, even if it wasn't that long. The two are very nice and interesting people who have always taken good care of us. It is a good experience to get to know the surroundings from a local perspective and to get to know their special way of life in a large community. The work is very different from day to day and you have to be a bit flexible, but the two try to create a good balance between working time and free time. Sometimes communication is a bit difficult, but it is very doable. Overall it is definitely a special place that is worth getting to know:)

One of my greatest learnings. Fanja's food is better than any restaurant. One of the best volunteering to imerge in the local culture

Waow ! What an incredible experience ! You are welcome for an immersion in Fanja, Lucas and Damiano's sea world. This month was amazing : navigation with dolphins🐬, work in a shipyard⛵, friendly diners with lovely people 🥰... So much memories I will never forget. The work was intense and demanding : you have to be flexible and available because it's an out of the ordinary mission for a great cause : enable children to navigate onthe boat, a floating jewellery. It's important to cope with their way of working and living. If you do, you will enjoy an EXTRAORDINARY experience ✨❤️.

For my first experience as a volunteer, Fanja, Lucas and Gancho 🐶 have set the bar really high! I am truly happy i had the opportunity to live and learn with them for almost a month. I feel like i have found another family here in italy, they are really funny and nice people. You will need a few days to adapt a little to their life, you must be ready to work, it is not a "chill" experience, there is a real project with the boats of the association and you are here to help for real ! I came here without any experience, so really ok for beginners, y'oull learn a lot! Can't wait to come back 🫶

Of all my Worldpackers experiences, this was my most meaningful. Fanja, Luca, and the rest of the crew do the most to make you feel part of the family. The work we did was at times tiring, but never too difficult or intimidating. And the food makes it all worth it! Fanja and Luca are very understanding and want you to have the best time. I learned a lot about ships, woodworking, and working with tools and I learned a lot about how to live with intention. They live and work in a particular way, be prepared to adjust your own schedule and attitude to theirs, it will be worth it!

I had a really meaningful and exiting experience atthe boat! Fanja and Lucca are really caring and kind people. I learnt a lot from them not only about boat building, but also about my own path in life. I met alot of new people, some of them who are now my friends. But even when majority of the time it was an amazing experience, I want to be honest and say, it was not all perfect. I personally found adjusting to cultrual diffrences hard, and not understanding the language was at times frustrating. I'd reccomend this experience to people who are intrested in sailing :)

My experience volunteering was not the best. From the beginning there was a lack of communication. I waited three hours to arrive, without prior notice. Living with the hosts was difficult. His attitude generated a tense atmosphere. It did not favor the stay It was difficult for me to adapt and feel welcome. The best thing was meeting two volunteers. I formed a great friendship with them. Thanks to your support, the stay improved. They made the days more bearable. The environment was kinder to them. I appreciate the opportunity to have participated.

It was interesting learning about life on a boat, we absolutly loved to experience the italian cusine from a local's point of view. It was great we had the opportunity to explore Cinque Terre and other towns nearby in our freetime.

I had a wonderful time in la Spezia, working on small boats, sleeping onthe boat, working with wood, playing music, discovering a bit of Italian culture and food (Fanja is a fantastic cooker by the way :) We even celebrated Thanksgiving on the boat, with a homemade pumpkin pie! The vibe was amazing, and the work could really be very varied from day to day. A short time, but I learned a lot. Thank you again Fanja and Luca for this discovery of the world of boats!!! And see you maybe one day in la Spezia or, on the sea :)
