Program Details

What I expect from you: No matter which country you are from. I want my volunteers to assist me in my mission to help my students overcome their fear of speaking English. Typically, volunteers engage in one-on-one conversations with several students each day about their interests. Of course, they adapt to the level of my students, and through this, they form friendships and foster interculturality.

What our volunteers can expect from us: a pleasant environment to work in while at the institute. Although the schedule is demanding, as our volunteers assist us from Monday to Friday from 10:30 am to 1 pm and from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm, for those 30 hours per week, we provide them with two daily meals and accommodation in one of the nicest hostels in Quito, which is a 7-minute walk from the institute in one of the busiest tourist areas in Quito, in the La Mariscal neighborhood.

Activities & Shift

The main activity is for our volunteers to engage in conversations and encourage our students to practice their spoken English. Typically, this is done in a one-on-one format, but there are occasions when volunteers organize and carry out group activities with up to 10 students per activity, lasting anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on how engaging the activity can be :-)

Volunteers are required to report at the end of the day the number of students they assisted and the amount of time they interacted with them.

Rules

The main rule is to interact with the highest number of students each day. Other rules include: be on time, assist the students; it is not necessary for you to teach them, but to practice the language.
