We are looking for natural building architect who can help us design, plan construct a natural building in the centre of the city Kolkata

What you offer

25 hours of help per week

Arts: Help with painting, graffiti, sculpting or drawing.

Program Details

Collaborate with the project team to design and plan a natural building mud house that aligns with sustainable and eco-friendly principles.
Develop detailed architectural drawings, plans, and specifications for the construction of the mud house.
Integrate sustainable and cost-effective design solutions into the project.
Work closely with local communities and builders to ensure the successful implementation of the design.
Create interior design concepts that enhance the functionality and aesthetics of the mud house while considering natural materials and energy efficiency.
Provide guidance on the selection of eco-friendly and locally-sourced materials.

Background of your project : How this project was initiated ? In several Indian villages, communities continue to face challenges related to unreliable electricity and high energy costs, which make the use of air conditioning or fans impractical—particularly in the tribal belts. At Lieberearth Foundation we are researching sustainable housing solutions using hempcrete and other locally available materials that naturally regulate indoor temperatures and reduce dependence on external energy sources.

We are also exploring innovative material combinations such as hemp blended with mushroom-based bio-materials and other affordable natural resources to enhance thermal insulation, structural strength, and ecological performance.

Before implementing this in rural settings, we plan to construct a pilot project at our own site to test, monitor, and refine the construction method and material behavior under Indian climatic conditions.
