The experience

About the Role
We need passionate storytellers to help raise awareness about our work! You'll use your creativity and media skills to document volunteer activities, community programs, and the impact of our organization on vulnerable children and families and community events.


What you offer

25 hours of help per week

Content Writer: Write, edit and publish inspiring content.

Photography: Take, edit and provide amazing photos.

Video Making: Create, edit and publish digital videos.

Social Media: Maintain and update social media channels.


What you get

3 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Free Hiking Tours: We’ll take you on excursions and hikes around town. For free!

Free Events: Get free entrance for the best events in town.

Pick Up: We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.

Language lessons: Take free language classes at our place.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Certificate: Get a certificate of completion after you finish your experience.

Fast Internet Access: High-speed internet for you to work remotely

Dedicated Workspace: Specific space for you to work remotely

Program Details


Are you passionate about making a difference through storytelling? Join us and use your creative talents to shine a light on the inspiring work happening in rural Uganda of wakiso and Mukono. As a Storytelling & Media Volunteer, you'll play a vital role in helping us document and share the powerful stories of transformation taking place in our communities.
What You'll Do:

Capture photos and videos of volunteer activities, community outreach programs, and our learning center in action.
Interview children, families, and volunteers to gather real-life impact stories.
Create engaging content for our social media, website, newsletters, and fundraising campaigns.

What We're Looking For:
Passion for storytelling and a heart for social impact. Skills in photography, videography, writing, or content creation.
Ability to work independently and respectfully in a community setting.
Experience with editing tools (Canva, Adobe, or mobile-friendly alternatives) is a plus.

Activities & Shift

Photography & Videography
Capture daily volunteer work, community programs, children's activities, and special events.
Take before-and-after photos of projects for impact storytelling.
Interviews & Story Collection
Conduct short interviews with beneficiaries, volunteers, staff, and community members.
Gather quotes and personal stories for written or video features.

Content Creation
Write blog posts, captions, short articles, and newsletter pieces.
Edit and compile photos and videos for social media and fundraising use
Social Media & Website Support
Support the team in curating visual content for platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and the website.
Suggest content ideas that highlight impact, success stories
Digital Archiving

Organize photo and video files in Google Drive or another shared platform for long-term use.
Community Event Coverage. Attend local events or programs to document them.
Help prepare visual presentations or video summaries for donors and partners.

Days: Monday to Friday
Hours: 4–5 hours/day (flexible depending on activities)
Example Weekly Schedule:
Day Time Activity Focus
Monday 9am–2pm Orientation, site tour, photography of school & center
Tuesday 9am–1pm Field visit with community program + interviews
Wednesday 10am–2pm Content creation (writing + editing media)
Thursday 9am–1pm Social media planning & photo/video capture
Friday 10am–2pm Story compilation, blog writing, or video editing

➡️ Weekends: Free for rest, exploration, or optional cultural activities
➡️ Flexibility: Volunteers can propose their own content ideas and schedule adjustments if needed for capturing special events or golden-hour photos/videos.
