The experience

Hi my name's Steve, I'm English but have lived in Colombia since 2003. I live with a Colombian family and we are starting an Intentional Community on a stunning 7ha site about an hour's walk from the archaeological capital of Colombia: San Agustin.

We expect no experience just a cheery disposition to help with eco building, planting, cleaning, making silly faces to children .... We love playing music together and sharing stories (:

What you offer

15 hours of help per week

Painting & Decorating: Help with painting or decorating the property facilities.

Cleaning: Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.

Building & Repairing: Help with a wide range of repairs or building.

Gardening: Help grow plants and cultivate gardens

Additional fee required

Amount: US$ 5 Per day

Fee pays for: Benefits for travelers and Donation to project

Description: We have a small kitchen and it is impractical for everyone to use it at the same time. We have a long-term volunteer who is a vegetarian chef. He makes delicious food with local ingredientes and lots of sprouted food ... The food donation covers this, as well as electricity, toilet roll, gas (brought on a motorbike) etc. Thanks (:

What you get

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Program Details

We ask for 3 hours help per day and also routine cleaning of communal spaces. We all eat together and take turns to cook

Activities & Shift

At the time of writing we are constructing a spare room in bamboo, and need extra hands to help with this. This includes treating the bamboo, helping the builder etc.

We have a forest sauna which we are trying to promote to tourism. We may need help to manage this (eg. putting wood in...).

We also try to find time to plant food, and also reforest the site, which involves tree maintenance.

Rules

No cigarette smoking inside the house please and lights out by 10pm in the main house. We live in a big house overlooking a canyon with some spare rooms. We have compost toilets and a hot shower.
