Come & join the reef conservation in Northeast Bali

The experience

We are a Non-Governmental Organization and volunteering program based in the small fishing village of Tianyar on the North East coast of Bali. The reef in Tianyar has potential to be a healthy and highly diverse coral reef but is currently in poor condition due to unsustainable fishing in the past. Marine ecosystem is under pressure from plastic pollution choking marine life as well as pressure from local fishermen.

Program Details

Volunteers have long weekends (Friday morning - Sunday evening) and often use this
opportunity to explore what Bali has to offer. Many volunteers put their newfound diving
skills to good use with many famous dive sites nearby, including Tulamben and Amed.
Volunteers can relax for a few days and visit close by ancient temples, large waterfalls and trek through the dense jungles. We also offer organised weekend trips to Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan and the Gili Islands as well as trips within Bali.

Activities & Shift

Throughout the day volunteers will be involved with many activities, from Monday - Thursday from 9am to 4pm with a lunch break in between. These main activities include:
1) Building and deploying artificial reef structures
2) Beach cleaning.
3) Diving to positioning the artificial structures underwater.
4) Turtle conservation during nesting and hatching season (between April - September)

Rules

You will need a diving certificate.
As part of our organisation we have partnered with a local PADI Certified dive
instructor who can certify volunteers through the following courses: Open water Diver,
Advanced Open Water Diver, Rescue Diver, and Divemaster as well as specialisations
within those qualifications. More information about this course will be shared upon request.
