Help at a small farm on the north edge of Perth

My time on the farm was lovely! it's a tranquil place on the outskirts of Perth, there's a lot of nature and kangaroos around that area :) the tasks were easy and even though we were working 20 hours a week, we also had plenty of free time. on your off days you can rent a car from Warren and explore by yourself, which is super fun. we usually did something altogether with other volunteers and planned our food shop on the same day. you also get $100 every week for food, which is very helpful. overall i had a great experience, met some lovely people and learned about farming :)

Warren and Natalie were very welcome. The farm is a lovely place to stay with clear stary skies and lots of wildlife around. Warren is also very flexible when it comes to completing the required hours. All in all a very good experience.

My time at the farm was truly wonderful, Warren and Nat were so welcoming and made being on the opposite side of the world to home a lot less scary. The beautiful surroundings topped it off. Our weekly hours were as advertised, and the $100 each towards food (as long as you did the 20 hours) really helped. Warren and Nat answered any questions you had and could advise on cars etc. You can see that Warren really enjoys teaching backpackers about aspects of the farm, and I really enjoyed learning. Thank you to Warren and Nat, for making my time at the farm so fab, absolutely recommend it!

Volunteering at the farm has been the most amazing start we could have ever wished for when arrived in Aus! Warren and Natalie made settling in to farm life so much easier by their helpful and thoughtful approach to teaching us the tasks that needed doing. For a farming beginner like me, that helped put me at ease straight away and I immediately loved being here getting stuck in to all the picking, packing and everything in between! I've learnt so much in such a short time and only wish this experience could last longer! 10/10 experience!

Volunteers have their own room in a shared house. Warren and Nathalie live nearby. Work hours were respected and the tasks in the vegetable garden were pleasant and not too demanding. Instructions could have been clearer to make the work more efficient but communication was respectful. I left earlier than planned as I had different expectations. I imagined a more family-like community but I was the only woman living with three male volunteers. However it's a peaceful place in the nature for those who like quiet afternoons! thank you for hosting me and for the things l learned about your farm😊

Overall had a positive experience. Warren was helpful and responsive even before I arrived in Perth, and both he and Natalie offered a warm welcome. Tasks and hours were fair and as agreed. At times, the experience felt more structured, almost like formal employment than a volunteering one, which I understand, as they've been hosting volunteers for a long time. There was also a brief misalignment due to Warren's communication style, but we were able to address it constructively. I'm giving 4 out of 5 stars, as there's always room to grow.

I really enjoyed my time at the farm! The work was straightforward and an interesting learning experience. The fresh produce was definitely a plus and the surrounding area is quite beautiful and peaceful.

If you are thinking about where and how it's going to be your first or next experience in WA, this is a great choice. Nathalie and Warren are great, they are nice, attentive and they enjoy spending time with backpackers. They made me feel welcome and appreciated. If you don't have a car, Nathalie takes you to the city weekly, because Ellenbrook is about 30 minutes away, but you can go for a walk and see a Kangaroo. Here you'll learn a bit about farming, Warren is always attentive to teach, and worries about your English. I really enjoy cutting, picking, and cleaning with the other backpackers.

If you were drawn to Australia by the high mininum wage, FIFO jobs, or money for Bali, you might be wondering why you'd want to volunteer. Financials aside, this is an amazing spot to volunteer. You'll get a unique experience that'd be tough to find in other parts of Australia. The work hours are clearly set out, the food and board is fair compensation for the work done, and you'll learn a decent bit about farming. It's a great way to settle down in Australia, and for me, it's become a little home away from home. Thanks to Warren and Natalie for my time here.
