Program Details

Join us in Tagounite, a peaceful desert village where time slows and community matters. We’re a local family committed to supporting nomadic communities through simple, meaningful acts—education, cultural exchange, and shared daily life.

This is more than a volunteer project—it’s a chance to live close to the earth, learn from Berber traditions, and contribute to something real. You’ll help where needed, whether it’s with children, elders, or hands-on projects, and in return, you’ll gain stories, skills, and soulful connections.

Experience the beauty of doing less, but feeling more.

Activities & Shift

Shops & Essentials: Tagounite has one main street with all basic shops and services you might need.
• Cafés & Wi-Fi Spots:
• Café Belle-Ville – friendly owner, great Wi-Fi, and fresh orange juice on the terrace.
• Café La Gazelle – another chill spot run by a friend; perfect for Moroccan tea and meeting locals.
• Local Market (Souk): Open Thursday and Sunday mornings until about 1pm—great for fresh produce and local goods.
• Hammam: The local hammam offers a traditional scrub experience with buckets of hot water—simple, raw, and refreshing.
• Excursions: Mohamed can organize guided desert trips if you’d like to explore beyond Tagounite—just ask!

Rules

Welcome to a slower rhythm of life—here, we don’t live by to-do lists or tight schedules. Instead, we follow the flow of the day and decide together what feels right in the moment.

A few things to keep in mind during your stay:
• Water is sacred: In the desert, water is life. Please use it mindfully, as we rely on a deep well to nourish the land and ourselves.
• Flexible planning: We don’t follow strict daily schedules. Tasks are decided based on the needs of the day, though if you have something specific you’d love to do, we’re happy to plan with you.
• Work rhythm: Volunteers usually help around 3 hours a day, 5 days a week—but we’re not rigid. It’s more about the spirit you bring than the clock.

Come with openness, respect, and a light heart—and the desert will do the rest.
