Help needed in seedling propagation in eco-friendly center
The experience
We offer you the opportunity of living in an authentic Gambian rural environment in exchange of cultures, teaching practice with childrens,helping watering trees in mostly public spaces within our community,and our eco-friendly center etc .
One thing that the project drives and wants to promote is to popularize the idea of volunteer work , promote indigenous people knowledge,skills and Volunteerism, community engagement.
What you offer
20 hours of help per week
Arts:
Help with painting, graffiti, sculpting or drawing.
Gardening:
Help grow plants and cultivate gardens
Teaching Languages:
Teaching a language to the host, guests, or local communities.
Social Work:
Help with volunteer work in local projects and communities.
What you get
3 days off per week
Private Room:
You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.
Shared Dorm:
You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.
Tent:
You will sleep in a tent at a camping site.
Breakfast:
You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.
Lunch:
You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.
Free Tours:
We’ll take you on tours and rides around town. For free!
Free Hiking Tours:
We’ll take you on excursions and hikes around town. For free!
Free Events:
Get free entrance for the best events in town.
Pick Up:
We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.
Language lessons:
Take free language classes at our place.
Use our equipped kitchen:
Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.
Requirements
Intermediate English or Fluent English
Between 18 and 60 years old
Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers
What's not included
Flights, Travel Insurance, Internal Transportation and Visa
Program Details
We have shared and private room for our volunteers ,Volunteers will live with our project team members . The team will be working together to achieve our goals in helping us in ,Watering trees in community public spaces mostly Schools, hospitals mosque in Mamuda. Teaching children etc .
Accommodation
A lot of places in The Gambia do not have running water or electricity, and such is my case. I do have a well for water and, as we are a tight community, we can get anything you might need in the neighbouring houses.
As for food requierements, just ask for it in advance.
Cultural Exchange and learning opportunities
In exchange for the help, we can teach you Mandinga language and traditional Gambian cooking. I’ll also be willing to accompany you to different parts of the surrounding area (Bijilo park, Serrekunda, Brikama, etc).
Activities & Shift
Daily Activities needed for our volunteers is participating and helping us in watering trees . Our project team members will provide free sightseeing facilities for our volunteers whiles living with us .Weekend their will be camp fire and other activities that the team will announce in our volunteer task Force whatshapp group
Rules
There is not an scheduled help you should provide. However, there are tons of possibilities for you to improve the life of the community while you are staying here. Some of the options are:
- Helping spreading the awareness of tree planting with proper reinforcement in our community. As climate change is affecting every country and every continent.
We will be glad for the help.
- Organizing games/other activities with the neighbourhood children.
- Collection of Picking up garbages Reducing of plastic pollution, There are tons everywhere in the country.
- Any other way of helping that you might think of. As a new settlement, every little help will be much appreciated.
Any medical help or education you can provide would be a plus, however not a requirement.
