The experience

Forest maintenance and fixing fences. We had inroads by boars so we fenced the land, but there is still work to do on this fence. Build/repair wooden pathways. Maintain both vegetable and ornamental plant beds including irrigation, composting and weeding. Perform chicken care and on rainy days home care. Experience the demands of a very remote and widely self sufficient southern homestead with fresh well water and solar energy.

What you offer

What you get

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Program Details

As we are but 2 people and the maintenance of 3,6 ha land is challenging, thus we ask for helping hands. This land demands physical work in order to keep it inhabitable, to avoid wildfires, to run water and energy in a sustainable and clean way. It is more a position of responisbility for the environment and work with the elements, than owning a real estate.

Activities & Shift

We expect 5 hours work per day, with 2 days off per week. We may offer morning meditation (if you are interested) at 8:00, otherwise work starts at 10:00. Forest and garden work are devided; in times the forest work is extremely hard, we give it to the men and have the women work in the garden.

Rules

For your information we provide a list of rules to all our volunteers before they agree to come in order to avoid disappointments. We provide/purchase all food but you will cook and eat in your appartment or in your garden with sea view. Hot shower and floor heating are available. We can host a max of 4 in the appartment (mixed group). Leisure time is widely spent separate by host and volunteers, apart from the hot pool in the evening and the morning meditation. Living here is more like that of hermits, silent, meditative, isolated. We have no community around.
