My partner and I volunteered on Simon's permaculture farm for just over 2 weeks. We were mainly house sitting while Simon was abroad but spent some quality time when he returned. In that short amount of time we had together we learnt many different things about sustainability and permaculture. We would highly recommend this experience to any backpacker. Simon was super easy to get along with, he is extremely attentive & accommodating and the communication was perfect.

A wonderful stay with Simon- learnt so much and felt very welcomed. I loved learning about his work in the farm and his life within the community. He goes above and beyond to integrate you into the local area, whilst sharing his knowledge about Permaculture. Honestly would recommend this to anyone and I would love to come back one day!

We had two wonderful weeks with Simon! Our role was to create videos for their social media, and what we loved was also having the opportunity to tinker, gardening and participate in the life of the place Simon and Jessica created. Simon was very attentive during those two weeks and made sure we all felt comfortable during our stay. Our days were filled with great moments, delicious meals, lots of board games, and we also got to discover life in Mizque thanks to Simon. Thank you again for everything! And maybe see you another time 😊

It's worth it!! I had an amazing time at the farm: fun, delicious and full of learning. During my 3week intern I worked on designing, making and implementing a solar oven. 1st goal: make a working one with cheap and accessible material so it's replicable across the Center. While making this I learned plenty of skills with their nice tools like woodworking, welding, metalworking, designing. 2nd goal: try to make solar ovens widely used in the Center by making documentation for carpenters how to use and make it. This part isn't done yet but we're still working on it (this shows Simon's dedication!)

I had a wonderful time at the Center! Simon and Jessica are amazing hosts who made me feel like part of the family from day one. The homemade food was delicious, they even took me out to eat, and we always had a great time playing board games after meals. Since I stayed for a month, I also had the chance to develop my own project building a rocket oven — thank you, Simon, for the trust and opportunity! P.S.: I'll really miss going to bed with a smile after winning chess games against Simon 😆

I had a great time at Simon's and Jessica's place! The working time was very reasonable and Simon ensured, that the tasks don't become repetetive or boring. On top, Simon took the time to explain the why and what while giving practical advice, making this voluneering a great experience for learning about various topics: gardening, permaculture, animals and most of all practical tipps and tricks for handywork and life on a farm. I can only recommend visiting them and will give a final advice to those of you who do: Working as a team to win against Simon in Monopoly is a valid strategy. Thanks:)

I stayed 2 weeks with Simon and Jessica in the Center. They are a lovely family enjoying simple life in the nature. Work was diverse like paintaing, wood construction, planting, gardening, feeding animals, cooking... Simon is patient and happy to teach you. Lots of break to relax, enjoy homemade fresh ginger beer and play games. Food was delicious and fresh from the garden or local market. The place is beautiful and comfortable, surrounded by mountains and close to the center. Amazing stay! Enjoy!

We had a great time learning about permaculture farming. We were up around 7am each morning to feed animals and and eat breakfast together. Building, weeding, painting were some tasks with homemade kombucha breaks around 11am, lunch around 12:30 and then finished for the day unless on evening animal or dinner duty. The hosts were great and super welcoming, the pets are lovely and time explore the region. Card games together were a common things and the food we ate was great. We really enjoyed the experience!

Staying at the Center was an amazing experience, Simon and Jessica provided amazing support and were extremely welcoming, something which was very important to me as this was my first volunteering experience. During my time here I learnt many useful life skills such as plumbing, electrical work, welding and roofing. The food was also very good, with a wide variety of types of meals. In addition to how nice the actual volunteer site is, the town is very close to the farm and is full of very friendly people. Thank you Simon and Jessica for providing me with such an amazing experience!

writing Daniels review here as unfortunately we didn't get to it in time to publish the normal way.
Daniel was with us for close to 4 months. During that time he was up for helping with all asked of him and saying yes to every opportunity to try new things like entering a triathlon when he hadn't ridden a bike much before. We greatly appreciated his help and enjoyed having him around. Highly recommended.
