Humanitarian support at local orphanage, nunnery and school

I had some money to invest on some projects to try to help the kids and it was nice to work with Apsara because I started sending money before I came and we would work together to decide how to spend it. She did a good job recommending things that were of the highest priority but she was flexible and let me spoil the kids a bit. I worked to teach the kids how to use chatGPT and learn to update a website - nepal-web.net that I made for them. I did tarot card readings, played D&D to make English fun. Ty Apsara for your support.

My three week stay with Apsara was such a wonderful and unique experience. She really made me feel at home on my first solo trip and helped me learn so much about daily life in Nepal. It's obvious that she cares a lot about her volunteers! I worked at the children's home and the hours were very flexible. I helped them with their English homework and went on two walking trips with the kids. Apsara also helped me plan activities and brought me on scooter almost every time. She made a big effort to ensure that I felt welcome and comfortable. I highly recommend it!

Apsara is a woman who welcomes you like her own child. She takes great care of everyone and I am so grateful to have her as my first host in Nepal. Here you can get a realistic look and feel how it is in a nepali household. the children at the orphanage bring me so much joy. I really really enjoyed spending my time with them and so happy I can call them my brothers and sisters. just so you know she will feed you so much so you will have to say you have enough before you are really full because she will try to feed you like you have 3 stomach 🥰 dhanyabaad didi 🙏🏼

My stay in homestay with Apsara and her family was simply amazing. Their hospitality and warmth truly touched me. Additionally, my experience at the orphanage was very enriching and allowed me to have unforgettable moments, I will miss these child's a lot !! I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking to discover the true beauty of this country. I was supposed to stay for only a week, but ended up staying for 3 weeks due to the incredible welcome and unique experiences I had. I went every morning in the yoga center and the afternoon I stayed with Childs for homework and play.

Apsara is such an incredible host wow! From the minute I met her she really did everything she could to make sure I had the best stay possible: driving me around, helping me to organize activities and coming with me. She cares so much about what she does and she really cares about her volunteers. She and her family also made me feel safe and welcome in her home! I couldn't recommend this more!

Apsara is wonderful and has a heart of gold. She took care of all the volunteers with such kindness and is incredibly inspiring in her story of her past 30 years starting the NGO orphanage of kids/families who are affected by HIV/AIDS. I am so grateful for this experience and could go far beyond the 600 character limit of this review. The volunteer schedule is accommodating to your needs, and Apsara also offers the optional opportunity to guide you around Nepal as well! Nepal and Apsara's place is beautiful, food is amazing!! Thank you to Apsara and the beautiful community for your hospitality

Apsara is the most amazing & inspiring woman. She quickly made me feel at home in Nepal, and helped getting the most out of my Nepal experience. I worked at the hostel (orphanage), which is a 10 minute walk from her house. In the morning, I got there from 7.30/8 till 9.30 to help the kids with their english (and maths) homework. In the afternoon, we came back to help the kids with their homework from 16.30/17 till 18.45. The hours were flexible, and the children were just so amazing and social! Moreover, Apsara helped us plan any trips or things I wanted to do. I would really recommend it!

Hello! This experience was incredible. All communication with Aspara was so comfortable and she answered any questions promptly. The home is massive so you don't feel like you are intruding and the whole family/community is very open so you feel welcomed in immediately. I worked in the orphanage. The kids are diagnosed with HIV and their parents can't support them either because they have passed or don't have adequate resources. Throughout my stay Aspara helped plan and support any trips I wanted to do so I had the opportunity to explore Nepalese. I would definitely recommend this program!

Apsara was really helpful, her kids are amazing too She organized everything for my stay in the monastery and also she drove me to different turistic places around Kathmandu, she is really friendly and makes you feel like a friend, also she cooks delicious food. The only cons is that I would have prefer a clear communication from the beginning, I didnt know that you have to pay a price for the stay (25USD per day - includes accomodation, food and visit the turistic places in a scooter) maybe for future travelers take account this, but overall it worth it Thank you for your time and help 🤗

This project is definitely not what I expected. The host is not truly interested in the humanitarian help for the children, but is more concerned with trying to trick you with undesirable and overpriced touristic activities. The project description does not fully cover the volunteer activity and there are important details missing. I haven't felt safe or respected during my trip, just constanly harassed to pay for unspecified activities by the programme. The only positive aspect is about the kids, which are eager to learn, but is such a shame this project has other hidden purposes.

Dear Alexe,

First of all, thank you for your review. I'm really sorry to hear this and that you feel that way. My main goals for having volunteers coming to my house are to both make the children happy, and to give you the most wonderful experience of Kathmandu. I'm sorry to hear that I didn't achieve that goal with you. I think the language barrier, and cultural differences played a role in this.
However, I'm happy that you liked the kids.

I wish you all the best,
Apsara
