Help at our small farm in Australia!
The experience
We have a small hobby farm just outside of Gunnedah, NSW. growing mostly summer veggies. We are now coming out of winter when activity speeds up going into Spring. Planting and transplanting will begin in October.
We have just had a major flood come through our property (August) so the next few months we will be clearing flood debris.
We are listed in a Disaster Recovery Area (2380) from floods in 2022, so can sign off volunteer 88 day visa

Program Details
The help is very basic and repetitive: watering greenhouse and outdoor plants, picking vegetables, pulling weeds, watering crops, mowing the lawn... We have chickens for eggs and Jack Russell dogs and a few cattle when the seasons are good. If you have a special skill we will try and utilise it. We also make a range of Pickles, Chutneys, Sauces and Jams from our own produce and sell on farm or at the local markets. There is always something to do around the place.
We are a simple hobby farm, We try and have a self-sustaining farm but not there yet. We have solar but not off-grid. We utilise all veggie waste that doesn't sell by making condiments or on feeding to chickens and cattle or simply putting back into the soil as organic matter. We are not organic farmers. We are not vegetarian.
Getting here from Sydney is easy on the train - 6hr trip. From Brisbane harder, flights involved
Activities & Shift
In the Winter, we usually do outside stuff in the afternoons but during Summer get out early before the heat and UV light arrives
