The experience

We are Pedro and Nádia that started this agriculture project in 2012 when we returned to Pedro's birth town (Bragança) and wanted to revive the abandoned family lands.
Our family grew last years and we have with us Afonso (born in 2013) and Gaspar (born in 2016) that love farming.. some days.

We have several interests and the farm is very diverse:
- Bees, polinization and honey
- Condiment herbs
- Mushrooms
- small and wild fruits
- Vegetables..

Program Details

We have this rule of accepting everyone that identifies somehow with our profile, so we dont demand any special requirement for the volunteers.
But one important part of this experience is our social interaction between everybody in the farm, so there are some basic rules that you must agree on:
- Respect for your environment ( other volunteers, the village, the animals, the plants...the tools...)
- working time the same for everybody, despite everybody's differences and abilities
- Dedication - Our tasks should be done responsibly. Pay attention to the instructions and feel free to ask as many times as you need.
- Help the farm to get better - We want you to leave your mark at the farm and contribute with your ideas. Feel free to take initiative, to act as the farm was yours.

We are vegetarians and when we eat together the food should be vegetarian or vegan :)

Activities & Shift

For us this is not just about work. We want this to be a nice cultural interchange experience for you and for us. We decide to open our doors to volunteers because we want the farm to be open to everyone that wants to connect to ecological agriculture.
We'll try to make this experience rewarding for both of us.

The word “work” sometimes is painful and heavy. We want to do it in a way its not suffering but rather a dedication to the farm idea. With our work we can accomplish things in the farm. The truth is the farm demands physical work. Sometimes a bit strong, other more detailed and soft.

Since our main concern is the farm, we consider work the time we give to the farm.
But we also count as 1 hour work when you cook for the group when the meal is related to the work.
The other house management, the rest of the meals, etc is up to the group to manage.

Rules

Working guidelines:
Dont be slave of the clock. If you are late, if you need to rest and stop in the middle, if you need to leave early… no problem. You can always compensate that time in other occasion and make the total time required.
Although we have some freedom in our schedule we’ll try to make a weekly plan together, so we can promote working together because we can share ideas and knowledge and its more motivating. But also there is no harm if you are alone sometimes.
Always ask - Doubts are natural and important. It's better to explain "too much" than to repeat an entire task

House Rules
The house is managed by the group
We should promote it’s organized and clean
Its a shared space so we should care how other people think and feel, so we have a confortable space for everybody
When you leave, make sure things are clean and organized.
