The experience

We are a refugee led organization located in the Kyangwali Refugee Settlement. We aim to provide quality education for the children here. The classes range between kindergarten all the way to Primary 5. We want volunteers to come teach and play with the kids! You can either help the current teachers with the existing curriculums or you can create your own classes! The current classes include: English, Science, Religion Studies, and much more!


What you offer

18 hours of help per week

Child Care: Caring for, playing with, and spending time with children.

Teaching Languages: Teaching a language to the host, guests, or local communities.

Additional fee required

Amount: US$ 10 Per day

Fee pays for: Benefits for travelers and Donation to project

Description: Volunteers contribute $10 a day to cover expenses for food, and accommodation.


What you get

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Free Events: Get free entrance for the best events in town.

Dance classes: Take free dance classes at our place.

Language lessons: Take free language classes at our place.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Certificate: Get a certificate of completion after you finish your experience.

Program Details

We offer volunteering opportunities for various amount of time. Whether it is one week or three month, we are happy that you want to work with us. We are an incredibly flexible organization so you can try various tasks to see which one suits you the best! Volunteering with us gives you the chance to really make a difference in our communities.

**Important** Our work is situated in both the Refugee Settlement as well as the host community. Your accommodation will be located in a school within the premise of the settlement. We can ensure that it is completely safe and there will be a 24 hour security guard on site, however, if you are not comfortable with staying here, there are nearby guest houses you can stay in for around $15 to $20 a night.


Activities & Shift

For this position, we are looking for someone to:

Lead 40 minute classes for our children (You can have help if you wish).
Either follow the existing curriculums based on the national standard, or create your own fun classes.
Interact with and have fun with the kids during break and lunch time!

In addition, we also have various other volunteering positions you can try!

Assisting our Volunteer Coordinator with the management of other volunteers on site
​Teaching English as a second language
Assisting teacher at our school to teach various subjects in class.
​Visiting families (outreach program)
​Conducting research in refugee communities​
Training the youth in peace and conflict, health, sexual gender based violence (SGBV), human/refugee rights, etc.
​Visiting and conducting research on refugees in the camps.
Practicing with refugee musicians, and sharing art experience.
