The experience

Millions of children aren’t reaching their potential because they don’t have access to Early Education. This is the reason why we are calling people willing to help these vulnerable kids in Kakuma refugee camp to apply for this position. The volunteers will support the implementation of an approved learning framework, and support children's wellbeing, learning and development.


What you offer

20 hours of help per week

Social Work: Help with volunteer work in local projects and communities.

Teaching Languages: Teaching a language to the host, guests, or local communities.

Child Care: Caring for, playing with, and spending time with children.


What you get

2 days off per week

Tent: You will sleep in a tent at a camping site.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Free Tours: We’ll take you on tours and rides around town. For free!

Certificate: Get a certificate of completion after you finish your experience.

Fast Internet Access: High-speed internet for you to work remotely


Requirements

Intermediate English or Intermediate French

Between 18 and 65 years old

Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers


What's not included

Program Details

Join us in making a meaningful impact on the lives of vulnerable children in Kakuma Refugee Camp by volunteering in our Early Education program. Many children in the camp are missing out on essential early learning opportunities, which are crucial for their development and future success. Your involvement will help provide a supportive environment that fosters learning, wellbeing, and growth.


Activities & Shift

- Assist in delivering an approved early learning curriculum tailored to the needs of children in the camp.
- Facilitate engaging and age-appropriate activities that promote cognitive, social, and emotional development.
- Create a nurturing atmosphere where children feel safe, valued, and encouraged to express themselves.
- Work alongside local staff and fellow volunteers to ensure the program meets the community's needs and cultural context.
- Help monitor and document children’s learning and development, providing feedback and support to enhance educational outcomes.
- Communicate with parents and guardians to foster a collaborative approach to each child’s education and wellbeing.

* Morning shift: From 10 am to 12:30 pm, their are working in the office preparing the session or they are visiting parents. * Afternoon shift: from 3:30 to 5 pm, they are facilitating the session.
